Ac vacuum pump keeps shutting off
i'm trying to pull a vacuum on my car to recharge the ac but my vacuum pump keeps shutting off on me... when you initially turn it on it will run for about 20 secs then shut off and about a min later it will come back on but shut off after only a few secs... it also seems to be running pretty hot... it is a robinair 15100 electric pump... the oil is new and at the correct level and all the gauges are hooked up correctly... does anyone know wtf could be going on??... i hope the pump isn't bad

yeah i was using an extension cord since the cord on the pump is pretty short, maybe 2ft long... so i tried plugging it straight into the outlet without using the extension cord, no luck... tried another outlet, no luck... i'm pretty sure the pump is shot so i went ahead and ordered another one... it sucks spending $200 on a tool you hardly use... i guess i'll have to do a few ac jobs on the side to make my money back haha

Sounds like the over temp switch is shutting it down.It might be flaky or something is causing the unit to heat up.Does it have a cooling fan not running up to snuff?
