Default Grease gun won't stay primed?

Is there a trick to these things? I follow the instructions on inserting the canister, letting it slam forward with the cap loose and then get the air out before tightening it. The damn thing won't stay primed and shoot grease no matter how much I pump it.

I just bought a new one because my last one was doing the same thing. What is up with these things?

Are you sure you're loading grease correctly? I don't know about letting "it slam forward".. if you're doing it correctly AND everything is in good working order, you shouldn't have a problem. I've been using grease guns for too many years every single day at work... Something doesn't sound right.
