The contractor wanted 1400.00 to move 8 joists and raise them up 2feet. I have a friend that is a home builder that said we can do it ourselves. Last night we picked up the wood and hope to start/finish this next Saturday

I have a 10k Atlas from Greg Smith. I have a dodge 1-ton, so I needed the extra capacity. Just remember that you can always light stuff with a big lift, but never big stuff with a light lift. I paid $2600 shipped for mine. It is the extra wide, extra tall model. I don't see how I made it all these years without one.

how many of you home garage guys had the required 8" slab. it seems most would have the 4" spec type garage slab. what are you doing if you want a two post/ maxx jack etc..

I have a autolift brand rated to 9000. Its a two post. My slab under lift is 7" with steel panels in concrete. Rest of shop is 4". They only required 4" for mine. I think 12000 pound rating it hits 6 or 8" on requirements. I pick up everything from fourwheeler to 4x4 long bed ex cab f350 diesel daullys. Never any trouble. I set up myself.

My Autolift spec'd a 4" slab of a certain rating that my garage floor matched in the plans. Many years of use that includes picking up my Avalanche, no problems.

I can't imagine having it set up outside. But then, I don't have palm trees in my yard.

I'm getting ready to buy the Rotary 2 post in ground lift. Hydraulic like the old gas stations, but two rams that come out of the ground with arms similar to an above ground 2 post lift. Plus you can remove the arms and hang them on the wall and have a flat floor space without looking at 2 big posts all of the time.

I have a dannmar 7000 I got a deal on. Only paid $1000 for it and it had pretty light use. I've had everything from my '66 beetle based sand rail to my dads z71 on it, and I have no complaints. It's pretty damn low, I havent had any issues getting my car or any other lowered vehicles on it yet (even a buddy's nearly slammed terminator). It doesnt unload suspension, but I've done suspension work on it anyway with no issues. Had a jack platform in the middle that will slide the length of the lift, and I typically use a scissor jack and impact if I need to do any suspension work.

I also have the optional wheel kit, so if I want I can roll the whole damn lift anywhere around..lol

I have a Mohawk A7, the columns are short so they fit in a small garage. No cables either so its easier to set up. If you want to lift a Camaro all the way up you will need 12ft ceilings. Mohawks can be hard to find because they are so much new.
