Milwaukee 1/2 inch cordless impact

Milwaukee 1/2 inch cordless impact
Was doing a rear end setup after I blew my posi up at the track a couple weeks ago. When I went to preload the pinion bearings, I discovered how hard it is to crush the sleeve while on your back. Long story short, either you need hydraulic arms....or something mechanical to get that part of the job done. At first I tried sunbelt, and rented their Dewalt 3/4 inpact.....didn't even budge the pinion nut. So finally I went to home depot and picked this bad boy up. Guys, this impact is the absolute trith. If you have any reservations about the strength of a cordless impact, please believe me when I say this will take care of anything you can throw at it....700ft/lbs...1100 reverse. It is a pricey piece.....but worth every penny. With just a few impacts....the preload was set.

Snapon has enormous, hairy, smelly ***** for asking for money like that. I own very few Snapon tools, they're stupidly priced. I'm a Dewalt guy when it comes to electric stuff, but the Milwaukee stuff seems like some legit *** stuff. I have a power sawzall from them, the big one. Monster.

Worth Every Penny!!!
Great on road trips too!
We blew 2 tires on a 5000 mile road trip. 1st was on a loaded trailer. My buddy grabs the lug wrench and tries breaking them loose 1 at a time. I said to him, WTF are you doing??? This is why I brought the impact, just incase. It was like being in a nascar pit crew. Zapped those things off before he had it in the air. Left one on to hold it while he was lifting the trailer.
Only place nearby to get a tire was a walmart. They won't do trailers and won't work on Vehicles with trailers attached. No problem grab the jack, pull both tires off the one side of the trailer before the guy could finish writing my buddy up for 2 tires.
Installed them when they were done and buzzed them right back on.

Ridiculously powerful!
Best cordless impact for the money hands down! I've broken a couple impact sockets breaking stuff loose it's so powerful. I bought mine when home depot had a $150 rebate on another tool when you but the drill/driver combo.

Wish I had it when I first started with the pinion nut. Thought I was going to be a HOSS and muscle it with a 1/2 inch ratchet, after fighting it for a few minutes each day, over a period of 3 days I gave up. Within 2 minutes of being under the car with this, I was in love. Found myself just looking for stuff to use this on when I was done with the job lol. I just wish I had the $150 rebate

Badass dude! I have a slightly older M18 1/2" that I used when I worked in coal mines. The motor burned out so instead of throwing it away I had it repaired. Even the non-fuel ones are bad bitches. Our rule was that if the M18 couldn't get a fastener to budge, put an air-powered 3/4" on it. If that didn't work time to break out the torch. Love all my M18 stuff.

I have pretty much all the M18 stuff now and a few M12s. I said a long time ago on here about the M18 1/2" impact, they are badass. Just a week or 2 ago, I easily snapped a K-member bolt that started to stick. Gave a few extra hits and snapped it right off. No biggie, got 5 more holding it one. It's only on the 99 6 banger firebird.
But, yes, it's wicked.
Also, if any of you have a Rural King store near by, might want to check there. We just had one open here a few weeks ago. They have a huge Milwaukee section and are offering the M18 fuel 1/2" for $349 if you buy it and some $20 drill bit set. It's a $100 off special if you buy the drill bit set. Ends Oct 31st. Otherwise the reg price is $439 with 2 5.0 batteries and charger. Same as I paid through Northern Tool 2 yrs ago.

Wish I already had m18 tools, otherwise I wouldn't have had to buy the charger and battery. Freakin battery was about $130, granted I did spring for the boss of the batteries...5.0ah. I think the charger was close to $100. Over the pastcouple of years, I've finally realized that many times it's cheaper in the long run to just go ahead and throw down the big bread up front, and it will save you in the long run. All of the cheap tools I've bought over the years, I've could have had a GM master mechanics tool set by now. And lord knows I don't need ANY more credit cards. Got far too many as it is. I got caught up in the sign up bonus hustle a few years ago and now I've got more credit than I need.

if you buy any more of their stuff, spend the extra bucks on the "fuel" branded one, at least for the drill. it's a beast.
