Default Ideas for Transmission upright stand??

Anyone have ideas for a upright tranny work stand?

I'm thinking on a metal garbage can with a 3/4" piece of plywood and a hole cut into it then just drop the tranny in tail first to hold it at a decent hieght by using whatever diameter hole works.

Gonna start working on a 4l80 soon and looking for better ideas if possible.

I used a cheap hot water heater stand like this.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eastman-...FU9nAQod24gB9w

Cut a hole in the middle with a hole saw so the out put and input shaft can fit through.
Not the best pictures but should help.
In the second picture in the bottom left corner you can see the hole through the rags.

Loving the living room feeling to the workshop you built, fireplace and carpet was a real nice touch that really brought it together 😎

Also I was looking to stand the case up. I'm told it Makes dropping in and alignment of stuff a little easier.

It will work for standing the case up. That's what the hole is for. Once you start assembling the transmission you stand the case up and the out put shaft will go through that hole and you just build from the bottom up.
Here is a picture of my case standing up. Although it's empty you can see what I mean.
Don't mind the type, these are pictures from my build thread.

Build a square stand out of $9 worth of cheap 2x4.
I can slide a 2 gallon stainless steel bowl right under mine.

I made a jig from angle iron to use with my engine stand. It can be rotated flat to put the valve body on and even upside down if you want.

Here- http://www.ebay.com/bhp/transmission-fixture

Mounted to a bench that's secured to the floor, you can now rotate the trans to any position you want

Decided to go ultra cheap and easy...

https://photos.app.goo.gl/k57Kotdyk4qFrOgm2

Bench is constructed from 2" rough cut and I buried the base plate with 4" lag bolts and I welded a nut to the back side of the plate so securing the angle iron via bolt was easy after I bolted the angle to the bell housing

I repurposed some metal from an exercise machine. I never liked that thing anyway..lol

I just put the hoop in the hydraulic press to hold it or clamp it to the work bench.
