Welders and Fabricators
 

I'm interesting in learning how to weld and or fabricate. I know that covers alot, but for right now all I have in mind is to fab my own turbo kit. I have no welding experience, but where and or how could I go about teaching myself how to weld? Would a community college offer it? Thanks in advanced.

Most community colleges offer welding classes. Money well spent IMHO.

Or you can find someone willing to teach you how and then purchase and practice with your own machine. The basics are easy to learn, practice is what make you good at it

Community college or vo-tech is the way to go. You'll have access to all the welding processes (gas, mig, tig, smaw, etc) and will learn shop safety which is very important.

the best thing i can say is just to get out there and start doing shit, and dont get disapointed if you dont get it down on the first try, to "fab" somethin up most of the time, is a pretty difficult process but it is the best feeling in the world when you can make somethin by hand and it looks great and works great.....

A turbo kit is fairly advanced.

Most CC colleges offer them or go to a Votech school that offers welding certification

Welding is a piece of cake, especially mig. Find a friend that has a welder and offer to buy him some wire or rods in exchange for learning how to weld. Get some scrap metal and go at it. As far as fabricating, get to know a machinist, they are a wealth of info, a good one anyway. I'm lucky, I have a father as a machinist and I pick his brain quite often. It also helps that he has a milling machine and 2 lathes in his basement, I can make anything I want!!
