If your just doing a cam swap all you need to do is remove all the rocker arms and push rods and with the timing chain still hooked up rotate the motor over twice to seat the lifters in there holders. Then remove your cam and install the new one.

NO! NO! NO! I just did that last week and 9 lifters fell into the oil pan. Either use the magnet pen method or the tool. Do NOT take out the cam without having something to hold up the lifters. Yours may not fall, but its not worth the chance IMHO

Remember that if your lifters fall the the heads come off and that $200 to get them back on with the cost of head bolts and gaskets.

Like NOGAMESLS1 stated this is a big NO NO, Do not even trying this. If your motor was brand new with less then 1000 miles or so then it would have worked but with these cars getting older by the year you MUST use something to hold up the lifters today. Use the wooden rods as they do work like everyone else said. Good luck with your swap.

I would definately not do the dumb method, use the dowels, lenght, needs to be about 7 inches longer than your cam
