It Keeps Telling Me I've been Banned

When I try to post, it tells me I have been banned. It doesn't do it all the time. Did I do something wrong? How can I resolve this issue?

Thanks,
Willie

I see no infractions. I'll check into it. EDIT: I checked and your name didn't come up as ever being banned or anything.

Copy and paste the message here next time it happens.

In the mean time, delete all your cookies and Internet cashe and log out and log back in.

If it keeps doing it after that, an Admin will fix the problem.

Might be the same thing I've seen a couple times today too, just clicking on a post. It's a vBulletin Message: "Sorry, the administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here." I'll try deleting cache and cookies too.

Edit: Worked for me.

Strange. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Yes...that is exactly what it said.

Are you using a proxy IP? This is a popular tactic used by trolls ( NOT saying you guys are trolls) and we have banned some IPs used by proxy sites.

I'm getting the same problem also when i try to look at recent topics?

CRAGER May 10, 2009 08:11 PM

We IP ban spammers, it seems that you have the same IP as them. If you guys PM me or one of the other Admins with the IP address you're having issues with we will fix it.

So you are using AOL browser? If so, you are behind an AOL proxy. That would also suggest ls1tech may be blocking AOL proxies. Hate to say it, but it's a bit fruitless to do so. There is so many AOL users that, as this thread shows, end up sharing the same AOL proxy and getting banned. This also applies to viewers, not just registered members. How many viewers are seeing the banned error?

If you have an Internet connection, you can bypass this by not using the AOL browser. I'm assuming you have internet through a cable provider (like Comcast) or DSL provider (like Bellsouth) and are just using AOL as a content provider?

Ahh...so its an AOL issue. :ripped: Gotcha! Sorry a$$ AOL! just kidding guys!

it tells me the same thing. click here to notify admin. a minute later the mail gets returned to me saying. Your e-mail is being returned to you because there was a problem with its
delivery. The address which was undeliverable is listed in the section
labeled: "----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----".

Just to clarify, it's not AOL's fault.

It is looking as if the staff has put an AOL proxy or two on the ban list. A proxy serves a lot of traffic/users.

Really, I'm surprised that AOL proxies are on the ban list. As these past few threads have proved, those proxies serve a lot of legitimate traffic as AOL is still a large content provider. We've heard about the few registered who are seeing the banned error because of this proxy issue, but what about the people who may not be registered? If they're using an AOL browser, and they get behind the AOL proxy/proxies that are on the banned list, they'll see the same error and may not have reported it (or have and it's private).

If it's just Nike shoe type spam, it's probably not worth listing AOL proxies on the ban list when, as these threads are showing, it is affecting a lot of legitimate traffic.

I am getting the banned IP address thing as well, cant get to my PMs. Yes I am on AOL, is this going to get fixed?

JeremyT Jun 2, 2009 09:32 PM

Send Crager a PM with your IP address:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=55

Given AOL is becoming more of a content provider and not an ISP, are you using any ISP (Time Warner, Road Runner, Verizon, etc)? If so, just use Internet Explorer or FireFox and not the AOL browser. When you have an ISP and connect to AOL, using the AOL software, you're behind their proxy servers - which apparently some are banned from LS1Tech.

I could use IE, but I use aol on a dozen other boards with no issues, it is easier to just surf between boards using AOL.

That's because the Administrators of this site apparently banned a few AOL users and their IP addresses. Problem is, AOL uses proxies and thousands of AOL users eventually get behind those proxies at one time or another. Personally, I think it's not wise to ban AOL proxies given they are used as much as they are, and it's evident as there as been many recent threads from users that have been receiving banned errors.

At this moment, you either need to contact Crager with your IP address so that he can remove the ban, or you need to use Internet Explorer which will bypass the AOL proxies (since you have a true ISP).

admin unblocked it and I am good to go.
