Why can't we search numbers?? When I try to search a number in a title comes up with None found. Why? Can we change it? Thanks |
You can search for numbers, just not numbers with fewer than three characters (such as 5, 72, etc). Same thing as words. Try searching for 500 or 1000, for example, and it works just fine. It is set up like that because leaving out the shortest (which also tend to be very common... 'be', 'it', 'I', 'a', 'an', 'is', 'on', etc) character-strings reduces the amount of work that the search indexing has to do, which also makes less for the search-engine to look through when running a search request. :) It'd be nice if there was a note on the search page about 'terms with fewer than three characters are ignored' or something like that, but there isn't yet. |
