Last night was horrible. From 7pm till i went to bed site wouldn't load. My gf was luaghing at me... But anyways, everyone started complaining on chitown about the site being down and search never working. Im glad to have the site back and working..
Thanks for all the hard work that goes into this site, and constantly trying to make it better. i know how big of a pain it can be.
Thanks, Chris

gillbot, I'm wondering if it's just giving up -- because it eventually should have loaded. How about when performance is normal, do you still miss images or is it only when the servers are acting up?

Here lately, site speed has been OK browsing sections/categories but when I try to open individual threads, that's whe it REALLY gets slow. 5+ minutes per page to load usually.

The problem is, many people aren't giving me any DETAIL. It's like taking your car to the shop on a flatbed, sealed in a shipping container with the door welded shut, and saying "it's broke fix it." To me, those people have no business posting, because they're just adding noise.
To those of you adding in details, even subtle ones, give me some place to start. I've noticed some occasonal slowdowns here and there, but overall the site speed is definitely usable. From this point on, I need very specific scenarios to follow and must be able to reproduce the issues. Before clicking "post reply" ask yourself -- can I give enough detail? If the answer is no, please click the red X in the upper right hand corner instead.

I understand your frustration but it's hard to give further details when everything runs at an OK speed except for the actual thread page loads.
Opening categories works with minimal slow downs. If you can't reproduce it on your end, I don't know what else to suggest other than asking for advice on tests or checks to run. I already tried the standard delete cookies and etc.
The only thing I can see here is some (very minor) packet loss and ping times 2x higher than most other sites I visit. My guess is the page starts to load then something causes a slowdown and IE7 just gives up.
