99 Trans Am - CAM ONLY - Lots of Parts

SOLD
1999 Pontiac Trans Am
116,000 miles
I bought the car from the second owner with 82,000 miles. I’ve owned the vehicle for almost four years now and have been making improvements ever since. The specs and modifications are as follows.

Looking for $8000 (make me an offer)

Engine:

- LS1 346 ci
- Stock bottom end (crank, rods, pistons, etc.)
- Stock Heads
- Thunder Racing “TRak Cam” -- 231/234 .640/.590 111 LSA
- Comp Cams 7.425 chromoly pushrods
- LS7 Lifters
- Complete valve job
- Patriot Dual Gold Extreme valve springs (good to .655 lift)
- New valve seats and seals, and titanium retainers
- Stock rockers
- LS2 timing chain
- Ported LS1 oil pump

- Mail-order tune from “PCMforless”
- Remanufactured water pump (2000 style)
- LS6 Intake Manifold and stock throttle body
- Cold air lid with a K&N filter
- New main belt

All engine modifications except for the water pump and CAI were performed at 109,000 miles. While changing the cam I took time to disassemble most of the engine and clean it up as best as I could. I did leave the rotating assembly in the motor and simply inspected it for wear and tear and everything was appeared to be in good shape. When reassembling the engine I used stock replacement gaskets and bolts and none were reused. The water pump and cold air changes were done at 86,000 miles.

The idle is set at 700 rpm. The rev limiter is set at 6400 rpm. As for the operation of the vehicle the idle has some decent lope to it but never dies, never has difficulty starting, or a anything like that. It was used as a daily driver.

Drive train:

- LS7 Clutch (pressure plate and clutch disk)
- LS2 Flywheel steel
- New slave cylinder and master cylinder
- Rebuilt Tremec T-56 six speed transmission
- stage I package from Six Speed Inc.
- Billet steel shift forks
- Billet key stock
- Carbon fiber synchros
- New bearings and tighter shims
- Stock gears and shafts
- Hurst short throw shifter
- Currently stock style short stick
-Also includes Hurst chrome stick with black ball with six speed pattern
- Stock Drive Shaft (was balanced when the transmission was changed)
- New U-joints
-10 Bolt rear-end 7.5” gear
- Moser axles
- 4.10 ring and pinion
- All new bearings and shims

The transmission, clutch, slave/master cylinder, and drive shaft were replaced at 96,500 miles. The rear-end work was done at 112,000 miles.

Exhaust:

- LPP long tube headers with 1 ľ” primaries
- LPP off-road Y-pipe
-SLP “Loudmouth I” catback
-The “Loudmouth” shotgun muffler has been swapped out for a Magnaflow 4” muffler

The Loudmouth I system proved to be a little too loud and raspy for my liking after the addition of cam and headers so I purchased the Magnaflow replacement muffler that can be found at Ws6store.com. The car now has a nice deep rumble at idle and still screams when you punch it. The entire exhaust is T-304 stainless steel.

Suspension/wheels:

- Edlebrock adjustable torque arm
- UMI bolt-in subframe connectors
- Eibach pro-kit lowering springs 1.2”
- KYB shocks/struts

Not pictured
- Rotoworks drilled rotors (Brand new)
- Freshly painted red stock calipers

- O.E. C5 style chrome wheels
- Font -- 17x9
- Rear -- 18x10.5
- Front tires -- Nexen 255 45 17r
- Rear tires – Sumitomo HTR Z II 285 40 18r

Suspension work was done after the cam swap. The wheels have never seen snow, ice, or salted roads they were removed in the fall and reinstalled in the spring. The tires have about 75% tread left on the front and the rear.

Misc. /Interior:

- Pioneer CD Receiver
- Infinity speakers (middle set only)
- Hurst Shifter
- Two pod gauge pillar containing Fuel Pressure and A/F Gauge w/wideband

The interior has experienced some extensive use mainly in the areas of the driver and passenger seats but the overall status of the interior is pretty good. There is a small crack in the dash above one of the air vent and the back of the center console is chipped. The driver side door tweeter is missing the cover.

For weight and airflow purposes the following have been removed from the car temporarily:
- spare tire/jack
- antenna
- air conditioning
- front bumper support
- fog lights

I still have everything but the A/C compressor, which could be found online for under $100. All of these parts can easily be reinstalled.

Exterior:

The driver side rear quarter panel has two very unnoticeable indentations behind the gas cap that were caused by body flex before the subframe connectors were installed as well as a scratch on the trunk lid.

Important notes:

- I will include everything I have for the vehicle that you may want including: labor and maintenance paper work assuming I have it, extra parts, stock removed parts, extra two wheels
- the car has always had the oil changed promptly at 2500 miles and all scheduled maintenance has been attended to
- the car was used as a daily driver for three years during my ownership
- never smoked in
- I am the third owner
- the car has been to the track once since all of the new parts have been installed to justify the money spent on performance parts, but aside from that it has been driven on the street and not abused in anyway
-Almost every part of the power-train has less than 19,000 miles!!!

Let me tell you a little story about Kyle.
See Kyle could have had this car sold already.
You see another person(not me) had every intention of buying this car this weekend. We'll call this person John Doe.
See John Doe had been talking to Kyle since Monday about the car and because Kyle was so far away John Doe was waiting till Friday night to make the long drive.
Kyle and John had been talking all week about the deal.
John had gotten a combination of cash and a cashiers check from his bank. So John is on his way up there and Kyle and him are texting back and fourth so each knows where the other is since it's a long drive.
Everything is all good a couple hours in, but then suddenly at ~5:15 Kyle supposedly calls his bank. I'm not even sure banks are open this late but it's inexcusable that you didn't 'call' them any of the 5 days prior. According to Kyle his bank won't take a cashiers check made out to John Doe. John tries to explain to Kyle that he can sign the cashiers check over to him but Kyle won't listen. So halfway in to IL after wasting all this time and gas John has to turn around because Kyle even though they'd been talking all week decides at the last second that his bank won't take a cashiers check.

I hope no one else takes a long road trip only to be screwed over on the way there. A simple Google search will tell you it's possible to sign over a cashiers check to someone else. I'm sure people on this board who have sold cars can all vouch that their banks will take a signed over cashier's check.
