I started thinking about selling my pride and joy about halfway through this latest build, which lasted almost exactly 1yr. I’m not sure what happened, but I just lost interest in the project as a whole. I think it has to do with the amount of stress/frustration it entered into my life, which anyone building a car on this level can relate to. In order to feel like I did the car justice, I still built everything ***just like I wanted***… same with the previous build I did too. The car is a BLAST to drive and GURANTEED to turn heads wherever you go. Before reading any further, please don’t misinterpret my sales ad; I am in no way hurting for money or forced to sell this car. I am doing nothing more than freeing up some garage space and possibly ridding myself of frustrating memories. Since its return, I have intentionally started avoiding the garage where I do not have to even look at it… maybe this feeling will pass sooner or later???

Before I could get myself to put her up for sale, I had to make sure she was truly reliable (remember: fast, cheap, reliable… choose 2). I picked her up from being tuned around mid-March and drove her from Mooresville, NC across Sam’s Gap back home to Johnson City, TN. I have also driven her to Darlington, SC (in **** pouring rain), raced, and drove back home without an issue. This past weekend I took her to Middlesboro, KY for a wedding and back without a single glitch. Through the hills and such, I have seen anywhere between 16-20mpg, but I am sure it would get around 22-23mpg in the flat lands. Saying that I am meticulous is an understatement; after just about every time the car gets driven, I am underneath it with a can of cleaner and rags to make sure it is as spotless as possible while keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. I have put on <2,500mi since the rebuild, and now I wouldn’t even hesitate to drive it anywhere. The few times I have gone to the track since the rebuild there seems to always be something that comes up whether it is poor track prep or me missing shifts. This setup is MUCH faster than my previous, which went 10.14@144mph in Darlington, SC at the East Coast Shootout in November of 2011. Judging by the E.T vs. MPH, I obviously wasn’t doing the car any justice by my granny shifting.

For pictures and some info from this last build, please check here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...93-octane.html

I have a stack of receipts from just this last build and an Excel file with 99% of the parts/prices documented. I did something that no one should ever do with their car... determine the total investment. As she sits I have a total of ~$55k. THIS IS NOT INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL PRICE OF THE CAR OR THE PAINT JOB (from ’11; about 3,000mi total). I would guess it would probably be closer to $70k if I didn’t do a majority of the labor myself. The repaint was due to hitting a piece of sheetrock that had fallen off of truck and flipped up in front of me while driving ~75mph on the interstate. I have owned the car since May ’07 with 12k miles with ZERO issues.

There is one thing I will do before I sell it, and that is repair the hood. I left the hood propped against the wall in my garage while the car was apart for the rebuild, and it was knocked over, resulting in some scratches and chips. I had planned on doing that ASAP anyways. I have also planned on widening my current rear wheels to 12” and mounting some 335s or 345s on them by the end of summer to take advantage of the mini-tub and notched control arms. Once this is completed, the selling price will be adjusted to reflect these changes.

If there are any pictures of anything in particular of if you have any questions, please send me a PM and ask. No tire kickers, please… if you don’t have the funds, don’t even bother inquiring.

Thanks!

Thanks man! Yeah, I hate to get rid of it, but I just need the extra room.

I returned from LA yesterday and drove her after I got back home... then again this afternoon. You wouldn't believe the heads this thing turns. I'm driving it to Nashville Thursday and back to Johnson City Sunday if anyone is interested in seeing it.

WTF Jonathan?!?

Anyways, that's about how I feel about you selling your car. You haven't talked Jeremy into selling his have you?? lol

Now, for those interested, this is one of THE BEST BUILT GTO's out there. This is a Heintz Racing car too so there's another BIG PLUS. Car is straight nasty. I've seen it at the drag strip and on the street. And Jonathan is an **** sob like myself as well. Accute attention to detail. Very very clean car. Best of luck Jonathan...but I still think you're making a mistake letting her go.

But in all seriousness, this is one of the best, if not the best built GTO out there. Nothing but the best from this guy (besides his driving ;P )

HAHAHA! Try me

Thanks man, I think I am actually going to keep it. I've got some things in the works (besides the wider wheels in the mix) that I think is going to make me keep it.
