My father and I started this build probably 11 years ago before we even opened Tick Performance. We purchased a running, driving '68 camaro which had a 454 big block / th350 combo in it along with a 12 bolt rear. He drove the car to work daily for about 6 months before we decided to strip it down and build the drag car of our dreams.

The car was very rusty, but we knew this when it was purchased. We carried the car to Wisecarver Brothers Racecars in Rustberg VA. The wisecarvers are big in Super Stock legal racecar builds as well as the local "gear jammer" series.

While at Wisecarver's shop, the car received all new floor pans, trunk pan, rocker panels, and quarter panels. The car was tubbed using steel wheel tubs to be superstock legal and street friendly as we had plans to tag the car. They fabricated the 9" to fit a set of 15x14" Weld Rodlite wheels on the smallest backspace available (3.5" I believe...the wheels are very deep). We chose MT ET Streets size 32 x 17.50's.

A Mark Williams center section was installed with a 35 spline detroit locker and 5.57 gears. The 5.57 gear combined with that tire size comes out be be similar to a 4.56 with a 28" tire. We also chose to install Mark williams drag disk brakes on all 4 corners and a custom Mark Williams steel driveshaft to couple a th350 or powerglide.

The wisecarvers did a full back half conversion with a custom 4 link suspension. They fabricated and installed a custom 10 pt cage, but there is actually a lot more bars than your average basic 10 pt cage. Coilover shocks were installed on the rear, but honestly I don't recall what brand at the moment. They also fabricated a very nice set of wheelie bars.

Also installed is a brand new fuel cell. I think it was maybe 15 gallons since we had plans to drive the car on the street. I found a set of basically new leather bucket seats from a 2000ish dodge stratus which we installed.

The last things the Wisecarvers handled was painting the bottom of the car GM Torch Red to match our plans for the rest of the paint.

When all was said and done, we owed the Wisecarvers a little more than $16,000 which included the cost of all the MW stuff.

We also have two brand new GM doors still in the box for the car and a like new steel GM cowl induction hood. To keep with the street/strip "Pro Street" theme we went to Modern Muscle and purchased literally every ****, button, vent, etc. for the interior. I have a new dash pad, new door panels, headliner, dash trim, gauge cluster bezel, wiper and headlight ****, rear view mirror, vent *****, etc. The only pieces of interior that we didn't purchase new was the carpet because we would need custom, the console because we weren't going to use one, and the heater control because that part wasn't reproduced.

The steel portion of the dash and the cage inside have been painted a satin black color. The cage also has a window net installed. None of the interior other than the dodge seats have been installed. All the interior parts are new in their packaging.

The car has never been driven since any of this work was done. It has always been garaged, so essentially everything is still brand new. The rear tires still have the stickers on them.

We have new comp engineering front shocks, custom drag race springs, every bushing, ball joint, tie rod, etc. from Suspension Techniques or some similar polyurethane suspension company and even have a new front swaybar.

For the big block, we have a brand new set of TRW forged dome pistons and some Chrome GM valve covers. The engine had a set of oval port open chamber heads that had been ported already. We planned to turn the 454 into a 468 with the new pistons and do a fresh rebuild with a nice cam, intake, and headers. At the time our goal was a pump gas friendly big block which would carry the camaro to some 6 second 1/8 mile passes on motor.

Not long after we got the car back from Wisecarver, we opened our own performance shop. I ended up purchasing my 99 TA in 2002 at about the same time we opened up and the rest is history.

Although we would love to finish the 68 with some big LSx power, right now our top priority is to sell some of our toys in hopes to make a down payment on a new shop of our own. The Trans Am took over as the "shop car" which led us to the booming business we have now.

When all counted up, including the $4000 we paid for the car itself we have nearly $40,000 invested in this car. As the car sits right now, it really doesn't look like much. The front fenders, hood, radiator support, etc. are not installed. The car has yet to be painted, so all the new panels are still primer black.

Everything mentioned will be included with the car including the th350 trans if desired. We're asking $20,000 for everything. Our loss is your gain...there is no way anyone could build a car of this caliber for anywhere near $20k. Included is several thousand dollars of new body panels, suspension parts, and interior still in there new packaging.

As mentioned, all the dimensions and build specs are Super Stock Legal. This car would make an excellent bracket car or index racer. Or build a street friendly engine and have a badass tubbed out Pro Street car.

Stuff not pictured yet is the forged pistons, transmission, engine components, new oem gauge bezel and original gauges, head-liner kit and the front end rebuild components. I still need to round all of that stuff up.

The front clip off the car and the steel gm cowl hood also comes with the car as well as the old factory seats, wiring, trim, etc.
