Default FS: 800 HP LSA Swapped '08 TBSS (3SS)

Year: 2008
Make: Chevrolet
Model: TrailBlazer
Price: $25000
Mileage: 113000
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): CA
Color: Black
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: 4WD & AWD

I purchased this Carbon Flash Metallic AWD 3SS model 5 years ago. It has just over 113,000 miles on it, and has been well maintained and garage kept. It has been hand washed only, and buffed 1-2 times per year plus in-between spot waxing and clay bar. It does have some typical wear and tip like rock chips from being a daily driver, but has many new parts. It has an aftermarket bluetooth radio with a CD player and USB input for iPod or smartphone. I recently replaced the side panel on the power seat (driver’s side) and SS emblem. However, if you are looking for a clean, stock TBSS – this is not for you.

The entire powertrain has been replaced using a brand-new Chevrolet Performance LSA supercharged crate engine and Performabuilt Level 3 Invincible series 4L70E with 2.84 First/1.55 Second gear and Sonnax billet upgrades. The blower has been ported by Weapon X (manifold and snout), it uses a Concept One 8-rib billet accessory drive to spin a Griptec underdrive supercharger pulley from ZPE. Kooks 1 ⅞-inch long-tube headers and Green cats feed into the stock catback exhaust. It has a healthy idle but is quiet on the highway. The cold air intake is custom made, which mates to a Weapon X ported 90mm LS3 throttle body. SPAL electric fans (from PCM of NC) and a Fluidyne heat exchanger keep things cool. The factory E67 ECM has been converted to Flex Fuel with a GM sensor by Kraftworks, who did the majority of the work. DeatschWerks injectors and a Lingenfelter pump supply the gasoline or E85 mixture. The front and rear driveshaft U-joints have been upgraded, but the rearend is stock. It also has an FTI triple-disc billet converter and PCM of NC trans cooler (in brake duct). The truck rides on Michelin tires with the stock wheels, but has upgraded Baer rotors and pads.

On the engine dyno, this combo made 825hp and over 600-rwhp once installed. It has since been de-tuned in order to run A/C using the Concept One kit. I have the factory accessory drive with an ATI overdrive pulley if needed (for kill mode). The entire installation was covered in Truckin magazine, however, some of the other work such as modifying the crate engine and building the trans were covered in VETTE, Chevy High Performance and LSX Magazine.

I absolutely love this truck, however, it is time to move on for me. I have a new project in the works and needed to purchase a new tow rig/daily. More info is available, however, feel free to check out the links below.

Is it still AWD?

What is the stall on the TC?

Estimated WHP as it currently sits?

Why do you have to "de-tune" to run the AC?

Yes.

About 4,000. It drives nice around town, though.

High 500s at the tires? It is down about 3psi. It has a 2.55 upper but the stock size lower. With the factory LSA accessory drive it had the same upper but the overdrive lower.

Check the link on the Concept One kit. The factory LSA A/C compressor location will not fit without cutting the frame rail/shock tower area on the TBSS and the factory TBSS A/C compressor does not line up with the LSA balancer. The Concept One kit allows you to run A/C, but not an overdrive balancer (or smaller upper pulley) for higher boost. So by "de-tune" I mean that it is running less boost than it did before.

For full price I will throw in some extra parts: GM LSA accessory drive with ATI overdrive balancer, front driveshaft, Spicer U-joints, and the stock 4L70E. I also have the stock air intake with K&N filter, fog lights, etc that I will throw in regardless.

I'm really curious about the daily driveability of this. I have a few buddies with similar LSA builds in the CTSV platform, so from a motor standpoint I'm not really concerned and you've built a gnarly transmission. Any rear end or transfer case whine? Are the shifts heavy, as a built transmission typically does, or is it still fairly smooth? This is an awesome build.

No issues with the transfer case. Trans shift firmness is adjustable through the tune. It was softened when we added the trans.

The Baer brake rotors/pads story is now live (http://www.lsxmag.com/tech-stories/b...r-rotors-pads/).

Also, I'm not sure why that link broke on the Concept One story (http://www.lsxmag.com/tech-stories/p...kit-lsa-swaps/).
