Default Possible rear end donor cars?

What are all the possible '93-'02 cars (with option codes that I should be looking for) that I could find a suitable replacement 3.42 geared rear end for a '97 V8 M6 non-TC car?

I know some V6's came with 3.42's but I don't know what year or option codes to look for?

I know all the V8 M6 cars came with 3.42's.

I don't know what channel rear I have to look for and I don't know how to tell a 3 channel from a 4 channel by just looking at them...

I know S10's have the same rear, and I think the V6's have 3.73's in them. But not sure if its what ur looking for.

He can use the gears from an s10. But the rear wouldn't work I don't think s10s have a latter bar style suspension.

3 Channel will have the hole in the center of the diff for the speed sensor, 4 channels has them on the axle housing.

If you are non tc car then you would be a 3 channel rear car, and like I said man just look for one hole on each axle and you know then that it is the wrong rear.

You see a rear with the hole in the diff as your looking at it, if my brain hasn't crapped out on me last time I had to swap my rear, it will be center of the diff on the front side, or the opposite of the diff cover side up top.

I will most likely be looking at some point too but I will be going for a 12 bolt (I know i can get a 9 in. but I want to keep GM parts on this one). I hope this helps ya a little.

Hmmm, I wonder if you can convert it somehow?

I wonder if anyone has either converted the Bbody rear end to be used on a Fbody or if anyone has fabbed up the Bbody 4-link and rear end onto a Fbody???

Hmmm idk. But I think in the newest gmhtp mag. Or idk remember where. But there's quite a bit of grand nationals in the 8s running the stock gears/posi and axles. Like on mine I'm going with mosers 33 spline axle and spool package.

S10's have a narrower rear end, about 4" narrower I believe..wouldnt work unless you got some deep dish wheels or wheels with less backspacing.

And don't forget you'd have to convert your brakes over on to the new rear as well.

srj let me down

naw but if your looking for a complete rear end theres always seems to be half a dozen 93-97 f bods and like 1 98+ f bods at the pick a part up the street from me
if u need a 4 channel u can always just swap axles and switch backing plates from ur old one

RPO code GU6 means 3.42 ratio
RPO code G80 means positraction

V6's didn't come with TCS/ASR until sometime around '00

Doesn't matter if it's a V6 or a V8 when it rains. Just sayin.
