Default LT1 Owners: Ram Air>Cold Air

I just installed my new ram air setup on my LT1. I was running the K&N FIPK for close to 2 years. The difference was noticable. Throttle response was much quicker, acceleration was smoother and it pulled harder. As for the setup, it seals perfectly with my Trufiber hood. If you can find a good deal on this setup go with it, you wont regret it. Here is a pic

I hear this a lot for F Bodies but why is that? Is the air just as cold as from under the car or something?

OP, you know what would be pretty cool. Looking at your air box it's sealed to pull the fresh air from the hood scoop. Now think about how the whole LS1 lid/air box assembly works, it seals and pulls fresh air from the bottom. Now imagine if you could hook up one of those SLP ram air boxes in front of your radiator and modify your current air box to seal around the top of that. Then you'd be pulling cold air through the hood and up from the bottom. Would it help much or be very noticeable...probably not, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless.

there was a guy that cut his SLP lid and put a filter where the SLP is and has it drawing in the bottom air. he did it on an LS1 WS6

it wouldnt be a hard mod to do, but the only problem it that the way the airbox is, i would be letting in unfiltered air all the time. and i dont think thats a good thing
