People with t56s...

do your transmissions get hot after about 30 mins of driving? and i mean hot to the point you can feel the heat through the shift knob?

if not, what fluid are you guys running?

LS1BLKSS 09-18-2009 04:30 PM

Datzneat 09-18-2009 04:54 PM

After about 3hrs of straight driving mine will start to get warm. Stock fluids.

1Loudz28 09-18-2009 05:12 PM

I have two cars with T56 transmissions. One that I've put over 100k miles on myself. I have never noticed any heat from either. I use Valvoline MaxLife dex/merc in both cars.

Maybe your vent tube is clogged...(shot in the dark)

This shit made me laugh. :D

Havent noticed it through the shift knob...ofcourse it gets hot though. I run Royal Purple in mine.

LS1_Fonzie 09-18-2009 08:18 PM

I'm driving mine without the shift boot because I broke it when I installed the new shifter. It gets hot for sure, but nothing unbearable. I'm using whatever ATF fluid recommended from the factory that I put in around 10k miles ago.

tripblackls1 09-18-2009 10:27 PM

i dont get heat from my shift knob but of coarse i do from the shift stick
which is normal with aftermarket shifts and stick,

btw the fluid is not really a big deal and i highly doubt it caused any heat increase
the only time ive seen fluid choice resulting with problems is when running synthetic or royal purple(worst thing for a t56)

myself i preference two quarts of dex/mer and then two quarts of type f

I'm an auto guy but I always thought the syncromesh was better for these trannys.
