Default Rear end question

Everyone is too cool to answer my question in the gears section so I'll post it up here,

I took in my rear to a recommended shop to have them change a leaking pinion seal, axle seal, and axle bearing. The rear end works great, no leaks, but it is whining very loudly. I want to change the oil and add some GM additive and see if that does anything before I bring it in again. It's an auburn posi with 90k miles, what would you guys recommend I fill it up with? Thanks.

Backlash take it to the shop and see if they can get your backlash set a little more, I say use the gm additive from my understanding it works great with the auburn rear end. From your description of the noise though is that they may need to set the backlash or check it again.

I could be wrong though.

Could the backlash have changed just by changing those parts?

To change the pinion seal they would have to unbolt the yoke but since i have never done it on these newer diffs myself I cant say for sure. Either way id say a mobil oil and GM LSD add, pretty much what SRJ said.

I would take it back just to make sure the adjustment is good so you dont do any damage to the gears, then add the lsd additive. Both my cars had gears my 01 made some noise but were fine for 10k and never made any metal savings. My 89 makes almost no noise.
