Is this car for real??? (ebay car)

says to be a prototype ZL! from 2001, but it has z06 wheels and brakes. doesnt seem like something GM would do.

Looks nice though. It could be true. I would do my homework just to make sure.

wisker27 04-06-2010 08:36 PM

Wel, IMO it's been painted 3 times which wouldn't make it original and im not sure if you noticed but there is a title issue through vin check. If it was a truly collector or being only 1 built there should be all documentation with it or you are really only taken his word for it. My biggest question would be is if it truly is what he says it is then it should be at a exotic or a Barry Jackson Auto Auction. HMM

I think the car was sold through BJ from the heritage collection as it has a scrap title and cannot be registered/titled,

fast01z28 04-06-2010 08:45 PM

yea the title issue is that its considered scrap which means it might have been a GM car, and it most states it cant be titled. funny thing is the guy doesnt disclose that.

im not interested in buying it, i just noticed that its starting bid is low. im gonna go look on the barrett-jackson site to see if its sold there and for how much.

EDIT: found it, damn!! sold for $93,500

I call bs... That paintjob is waaaay too tacky to be real

fast01z28 04-06-2010 08:53 PM

i cant believe that someone paid that much for an fbody with an LS6 dropped in, some paint, and some badging, and its not even legally driveable. some people have more money than brains.

i agree that the paint is too tacky to be from GM, but it seems real enough, which makes me kinda sick.

m6ttop 04-06-2010 08:57 PM

Omg it's for real??!!

hlaalu 04-06-2010 08:59 PM

someone payed $93k for that scrap? i'd rather get a dick harrell car with a clean title for that price lol

SUCK MY SS 04-06-2010 09:05 PM

bene 04-06-2010 11:13 PM

That car is only good for A. Racing (track only) B. PARTS.

fast01z28 04-06-2010 11:29 PM

what if someone bought the car and moved their VIN numbers over to this one, although it then wouldnt be the only ZL1 anymore, but it would be driveable.

nah, not worth going to jail over.

im just wastching to see how much it ends at because im sure the car wont go for $93k. Im also curious what the reserve is.

I think your on to something here... what if they moved all the stuff added to that car that made it a zl1 over to a clean titled car. Maybe even get consent from GMMG too.

But that's if someone really wanted a car they could drive. But I'm sure it will sit out the rest of it's days in a museum or something.

ls1ya 04-07-2010 02:00 AM

seems like it would have a special vin too.

ae13291 04-07-2010 03:31 AM

if that car was build in 01 then those seem like z06 speedlines, the 01 z06 wheels are a much darker gray that is noticeable, (alcoa wheels)
