Doug's Headers Cut-out Rant
 

I have been told by a few muffler shops that Doug's headers makes the best electric cut-out. The cut-out is a guilotine type instead of a butterfly type opening. Problem is they have the patent on them and so far have been a pain in the ass to get. I ordered one from them in February and have yet to receive it. They have claimed manufacturing problems. Every two weeks they say in two weeks :bang: . I want what is supposed to be the best but about to say to hell with them :bang:. Anyone else have any experience with them? BTW Doug's Headers is not Doug Thorley Headers they are two different companies.

holy shit those are expensive!! it took me months to finally pull the trigger on getting a complete exhaust system built that is in the same ballpark as that cutout!

I have a used one if you want it. I only had it on for maybe 3k miles. Still works great!

I was just about to say something along those lines... lol... To the OP, cancel your order for and give Speedinc a call to order a DMH cutout. I've had mine for almost a year and 17K miles, and it works just fine.

Have you seen the low profile DMH cutouts? My buddy has two of them, one right after each header...:joecool:

That's crazy, I didn't even know they had a cutout like that. I'm gonna have to look it up, that's pretty cool.

They fit anywhere. You weld them right on to any section of straight pipe.

Yeah that Doug's Headers cutout is way overpriced.

Also keep in mind that the price for the DMH cutouts is for a pair, not just one.

I second for DMH! I waited a month for them when I ordered them but it was worth it. They didnt fit because of ground clearance so I sold them but they were top notch and Ive seen them last a lot longer than other brands. Their motors last a long time and they blade seals very well.

Then get the low profile DMH cutouts, they fit anywhere.

I did, the ovalish rectangular ones. Nope buts thats the story when u got less than 2in of clearence in some spots. Technically it cleared but even a tall ant would tear them off. Lol. Too close to the ground.

those are the best working cutouts / we used to header coat all of them for the original designer of them here in Riverside until he started making them out of stainless and then sold the design to Doug's
( which he used to work for ) A NICE piece !

Update. I called Gary's drop shop in Ontario on monday to see if they maybe had one. They told me to call another shop. That shop had a single one in stock:D. I called the shop that I had the order in to tell them. I told them that I had found the cut-out! They had me check the part number and it was the same. They ordered it and had it shipped ups from Riverside. Long story short I got it Tuesday :D. Today or saturday I will get it installed:D. FINALLY!
