Getting Code P1637 Generator L-Terminal Circuit? Help Needed plz!

Its most probably the excitor wire on the alternator. Its the only other wire going into the alternator besides the positive feed, it has a little connector at the end of it and the wire tends to get pulled out of the connector. They commonly break when removing the alternator, and it will throw that code. Good luck

I was searching about this p1637 generator L terminal circuit code, i have this code in my car (02 ss) since i install a cam tomorrow i will clean the wire but my question is if this cause my car to have idle problems?, the car drives good n whenever the engine light comes on its starts to idle bad n turns off on me when i reverse.

i had this same problem forever!! as soon as i replaced the connector and red wire going to the alternator the problems went away. at least for now! glad you got it figured out.

If you ever get this code again there should be a wire that run directly from the alternator to the pcm with zero splices that wire is the cause of this code

same issue called the dealer gave them the code, check the connections to the battery if they aren’t all the way down, loose or have dirt in them it will trigger.
