These shops have been cropping up here in Salt Lake and are quite handy for people like me who don't see themselves ever living in a traditional house with a garage. These shops let you rent a bay for about $15 per hour and have lifts or pits to work on your car at your car. I don't see myself needing more work when I get down there, but we all know that stuff can catch us off guard. I don't think the apartment I'll be moving into would let me change a tire in the "underground" parking!

I'm considering navy contract work for a while when I move down there, so that might help really well. Thanks guys. $6 per day sure beats $15-$20 per hour!

The rates for the lifts and spaces differ from base to base. Miramar is the best local one IMHO. The base has a nice crew that doesn't really care to much for what you do and how you do it. Has good rates and is Open longer the the Camp Pendleton one. I help guys all the time on either base for all kinds of work on any vehicle.

I've been to the one on 32nd a couple of times. No complaints yet, the guys that work there seem ok and willing to help if you need it. I plan on doing my headers and ory soon so that might change lol. Another plus is they have a basic parts store there with the ability to get "special" parts within an hour.

I spend most of my time when I'm catually around at the north island auto hobby shop, either working on the bel air or the 69. They let me do everything there to include painting cars and welding. As long as you dont leave your hazmat out and keep your stalll clean, nobody ever bothers you.

I wish this statement was true for the SOI hobby shop in Camp Pendleton. The one on main side is more chill but still not like the north island one or Miramar.
