Default anyone here an expert on tires?

my cousin has a mini cooper with run flat tires that need to be replaced but she tells me these run flats are kinda expensive, can she run regular non run flat tires? are there any pros or cons? any info will help out thanks in advance

She can run non run flats no problem the only thing is I'm guessing the car doesn't have a spare which is why it came with run flats like a Corvette.

runflats are designed with a stiffer sidewall so if she was to have a flat she can still drive on the tire thus its name runflat thats the pro that i see and the con is just its pricey imho but running any other street tire will be fine i don't see why it would'nt but i'm no tire expert

More than likely like stated above the car doesnt have a spare hence the need for the run-flats from the factory. IMHO have her go with a regular street tire or something performance based for better ride and handling. And get AAA with the money saved. Shoot for $100 a year you can get five tows/calls for over 100 miles each.

I personally wouldnt drive on a flat run flat anyway because most are speed limited when low air pressure situations arise anyways. And when you run them when in a flat situation you will destroy the tires integrity meaning pruchasing a new tire.

I vote regular tire.

Regular street tires are way better! Neither of our WS6s have spares in them, with no issues.. AAA is great!

When you get AAA make sure to get the plus. It is so much better and is not much more expensive. You get 100 mile tows instead of 7 mile tows.

I switched from the run flats on my C6. Just get AAA and one of these:

I have 200 mile tow in case I break at the track. My boss was in the same situation on her BMW. I told her, don't waste your money on those run flats, get a regular tire & save some money.

I always put a tire repair kit in all my cars along with a cheap little air compressor.
