Default Did the clutch on the Daily Driver

So this weekend I did the clutch on our 02 Lancer OZ Rally. At 161,000 miles the stock clutch took a massive dump.

Well over the weekend it took about 13 hours total with this being my first clutch install on a fwd car, and I finally got it done. It is night and day between the old clutch.

I will get the pics up in a little bit of the old clutch, but yeah it was bad. I did tell my wife that we are seriously never buying a fwd car again haha. Although it really wasn't too bad, just getting the transmission back in and getting the axles out were the most troubling parts, I was not too sure about using a prybar to remove something from a car as is instructed in the Mitsubishi factory service manual.

I will admit it, this car is pretty awesome, for the mileage she keeps on truckin.

About $400 total, I went with a stock replacement set, plus fluids, then buying the new flywheel. It really wasn't bad at all except the getting a transvere mounted transmission in lol.

Yeah with the new clutch in it is pretty peppy, I want to plati dip the car since the paint is fading. It runs through oil pretty quickly, so when I can I want to replace the head gaskets to see the condition of the head and see what the bottom end looks like, if I can get another 100k miles out of the car that would be great lol.

Yea you could probably get another 100k out of that little 4 banger... providing you've done your regular maintenance which I'm sure you have. Hell my mustang is at 185k and still running pretty good... I see 200k+ happening fairly easily...

Yeah I have done regular maintenance, but I don't know about my wife for the couple years she had it before being with me lol. Heck when we were dating she let it go 11k miles without an oil change.... I was like um... yeah not gonna happen haha.

I hate replacing FWD clutches for the reason that those stupid axles are sometimes stuck with rust. And you have to hold the engine up sometimes. But the trannies on a lot aren't that heavy so that's a plus lol. Good work Adam

Thanks Manny, yeah the guys on the lancer forum swear the trans is 150 lbs, I still don't think so because I was holding it up and wiggling it around with my arms outstretched so I don't believe it is that heavy.

I did find that I have to replace the passenger side axle there is a noise coming from it, which is ok, a brand new one is $70 with a lifetime warranty.
