Default Price on motor rebuild...

I have an oldsmobile 403 that I need to get rebuilt and I was wondering what would pretty much be the ballpark figure on rebuilding it? It came out of a 1978 Trans Am. Does anyone know any good San Jose / South Bay shops that do good , cheap work? lol.

cheap and good doesn't exist. my friend payed 1500 for a rebuild in his 75 vette. spun a rod bearing after a year putting out maybe 250 hp tops.

I'd say 2500 for a good complete rebuild is a reasonable amount.
