ive used a ring type magnet placed at the bottom of my filters for years, this is just a fancy one, serving the same purpose, as for results the only way is to run the same oil for the same miles and have a thorough analysis done

i have added a stronger magnet externally to my drain plug, ill see the results in a 100 miles

Not worth it IMO. Remember a lot of the engine is Aluminum and it is not magnetic. The sediment will settle to the botton of the oil pan and a small speaker magnet there will pickup any metal that is magnetic.
