Check by state. You may be owed some money you didn't know about (money left in a savings account, old job, insurance, etc.).

There was a segment about it on the local news. It's a scam.

You should post a credible link, otherwise, I think you're confused. It's the State Controller's website. And if it were a scam, why wouldn't everyone's name come back with some money owed? Additionally, the results are very specific, my address was 5 addresses ago.

I dont know what link you clicked on that was a scam, I went to the Texas page and its the states page, and legit. Had all of my addresses. And the dividends Im owed on some stock I forgot about.

Only my dad and I were on there, my mom had already claimed her money.

Out of 10 family members I tried, only 2 hits.

Not everyone is lucky, even mine was less than $10.
