Another what's this '05 worth thread

I found a '05 I want to buy. It's red/black with 4 extra wheels with good winter tires on car. Almost new summer tires/wheels in bags. Tinted windows, no sunroof, aftermarket shifter, great shape but chipped radio buttons. Good warranty history. Gas pedal twice, towed twice, nothing in the last 25,000 miles. It has 50,000 miles with 13 months and 10,000 miles left on GM major-guard warranty. I offered $19,000 said no $20,000. What do you think?

Mine is a better deal. :)

That car is somewhere in the $20-21k range I would guess.

Would agree
Redline Vs with sunroof delete are few and far between

I know the owner of the car you looked at. Its in good shape and the driver is a major puss, so I am confident in saying that the car was never beat on. iirc, he is looking for something a little smaller for his daily corner carving.
The sunroof delete is pretty nice though. I would have gotten one if I could have found one. I know my sunroof has a nice rattle when open and going down a not so perfect road.

Just to supplement the comments already made, the radio button thing is common and easily fixed.

I thought about yours seriously. It almost fits me perfectly. It has the perfect amount of mods, but it's black. I love the black, but it's too much work to maintain. I'm going to wind up driving it to a refinery in a heavy industrial area. It wouldn't stay looking clean for long, and I work too many hours to keep after it.

Doctornick, He seems like a good dude, more of a SCCA kind then a gearhead. I'm sure the car has been run some. Who wouldn't use it, if they had it.

i love mine. red/black and no sunroof, only way to roll!

DoctorNick Jan 5, 2010 01:34 PM

Yeah, your right. He is much more of an SCCA guy then a hpjunkie. What are you trying to spend v. what he is asking for? Honestly, those wheels are worth the extra few bucks. Try to get a set of 4 for anything under a grand from the dealership!

Sounds like a good buy, especially if the interior and paint are at least an eight or nine, warranty is also a bonus. The sunroof is overrated, I have owned my V for 5 years, 4 months and 23 days and 'may' have opened it ten times, mostly due to overly voluminous flatulence or lack thereof of Summer's Eve on the part of female passengers. Other than those uses, it is basically another electronic breakdown waiting to happen and rob away your mod/HP money. Real race cars do not have sunroofs, 'nuff said.

Not to mention the extra weight and higher center of gravity with the sunroof. I think it's an extra 80 lbs.

Buy the car and sell the extra wheels to make up the cost.

,,, and the damn thing rattles when you are at 150+mph, as I have said many times, real racecars do not have sunroofs,,,, shiat, I guess I have been lying to myself all these years, anyone sell a sunroof/moonroof/suckerroof delete kit???

I sold my V which was close in miles warranty and Mods with a few minor flaws for 19,500 so i would say 19,000 is a good deal.... however i still think the car your looking at is easily worth 20-21k with extra rims

Cadzilla Jan 8, 2010 12:44 PM

thats a good buy with some warranty left so you have time to sucker the dealer into any major repairs before you start to mod it.. I agree with the others too, those rims are a bonus at that price. They can be sold together or separately to forum members (I still do not have a spare), or you could powder coat and have a black set...

f the sunroof. mine broke and is inoperable, rattles, etc.. I wish I never had one on my car. Im under gmpp, cant wait until they try to tell me it is a "cosmetic" trim item not covered...if they do fix, Ill never open it again other than using the tilt feature for ventilation...

maxspeed96ct Jan 8, 2010 03:52 PM

I think 20 is a deal, warrenty is the big bonus + extra rims.

When I bought mine about 8 months ago , there wasnt any V's in new england under 22k with a warrenty.

300zxls1 Jan 8, 2010 09:00 PM

Just hold your price and dont give it away.

Gus_Mahn Jan 31, 2010 10:32 AM

I bought the car for $19750. It's a little more than I wanted to spend, but it's a very nice car. I feel it was a good but not great deal. The leather is the best I've seen for these miles. It has no door dinks, but 3-4 tiny dents on the top surfaces. Paint is great other than typical rock chips.

The deal almost didn't happen. The PO found this thread before the deal was done and got upset. I called his bank and they told me up to 40 days to get the title after the lien was paid off. I got worried. I have extra cars, but I don't need a $20,000 paper weight. Finally I spoke to someone at his bank who said the long title waits were in states like CA, and 7-10 days is most typical. The PO has a long internet history with lots of old pictures of cars where I viewed this car, so we went to his bank and paid off the loan. The title came in 7 days.

I will be visiting the dealer for warranty work shortly. I smell coolant occasionally, the power steering makes tons of noise when cold, and the rear end wines some. All said I'm pretty happy.
