Looking to buy a new z28 have one in mind but don't know what to pay.
Hello guys, I have a red 2001 z28 in mind to purchase with 124k miles, a rebuilt tranny, stock, with generic alloy wheels I would assume. It has 3 big cracks in the dash and the driver side window looks like it has been caught in a razer blade storm (Scratches up and down) Also I found a little bit of yellow sludge on the oil filler cap? I've heard this is normal for an ls1 because of condensation, would make sense seeing that we have been seeing some 20 degree days and heavy snow for weeks. Also the paint needs some tlc on the front of the car, and mirrors. Everything else is tip top. He's asking 7k but I was thinking the most I wanted to pay was 5k thats what they seem to go for with that many miles and issues. Am I low balling him or am I about right. I will not overpay for a car. All opinions welcome, thank you so much!

I payed 8k for my SS with 79k miles 2 owner. Garage keepet almost mint condition. So maybe 4 k for that car would be about a good starting price. In my experience. Spend more money and never buy junk. That shows neglect

Paid $$8500 for my 02 SS thats needs a paint job and needed a power steering rack to pass safety due to the factory power steering cooler leaking and allowing the rack and pump to be washed out with anti freeze. Granted the guy had proof of the new engine only having 25000k on it and a brand new trans and clutch date coded right on the trans housing along with the reciepts. Body had 190k on it. It was in reality a 5k car but I was able to verfy the SLP build number here http://www.slpregistry.com and again that the car had all the options listed when I ran the vin# through http://www.compnine.com/vid.php.
In the end the car is only worth what your willing to pay for it.
