Default 98 Trans Am, KBB prices seems low, or is it just me?

Hello all! Here's what I have.

1998 Pontiac Trans Am 90,000 miles

-T-tops
-White Exterior, Grey leather interior
-Automatic
-Does not have WS6 hood.
-16 inch factory chrome wheels
-Underdrive pulley
-Pacesetter Armor Coated Long tube headers
-Catless exhaust.
-SLP lid
-LS6 intake manifold
-Air pump and EGR delete.
-Side molding and badge delete
-MSD ignition wires

KBB prices it about $5,100 private party. But that's based on a completely stock car.

I've always thought I could get $7-8,000 if I have to part with it, what do you think?

your mods although not major may hurt, especially the emissions part, otherwise based on a pretty clean car I'd say 6/6500, Ive said this before and will say again, with these cars its more about the who and where someon is looking then the cars for sale anymore, I'd pay a premium for a 96/97 WS6 with cloth in white right now especially if it was close

Mods never matter for KBB pricing ... The biggest factor that KBB doesn't take in effect is nostalgia/car enthusiast love. Prices are based on quality, features and miles. To an enthusiast that's not the most important thing.

KBB is just one of many tools out there to help you price a car. It isn't the bible of pricing, but still useful because buyers will use it as a guide and not stray too far from it. With your car there are still many factors we don't know. Is the Carfax clean or have there been accidents? How many owners? The more owners there are the lower the price might be (due to an unknown history and maintenance records). We also don't know the condition or if the next buyer needs to buy tires immediately or make repairs. It all affects the price. Generally speaking I would say you can get more than that $5,100 KBB price but a little more needs to be known about your car. Clean Carfax, one or two owners, very good condition, garage kept will definitely bring you more, maybe $7,000+. It's all in the details. 4 or 5 owners, teen driven, left outside, needs tires, will bring very close to that KBB price.

I had an extremely clean, 1 owner 2002 silver A4 TA with 48K miles at a local dealer offered to me at $11K three years ago...and I don't think they've gone up in price since. I'd figure the difference between that and a 90K mile 1998 is approx $5K to $6K. It took them 6-8 months to sell that car. I'm not sure if they got the $11K. A superbly kept mint car will always bring a heck of lot more than KBB. But very few people maintain their cars to that extent.

I had a 1999 Formula with 29,000 miles, mods were SLP lid, ARH 1-7/8" LTs, ARH ORY, Borla exhaust, UMI PHB, BMR LCAs, UMI SFC, Hayden Cooler, FTI Custom Billet Converter, Tune

Sold for $10,000, and that was after turning down offers of $7500 - $9500 for two months.

Unless a car is rare or has super low miles, Kelley blue book & NADAguides are good guidelines to price a car. KBB values your car at $5,100, but NADAguides sets the retail value at $7,600. Depending on the condition of your car, you could probably sale it for somewhere in between those two figures.

If I was selling it, I would ask $7,000 & hope to get $6,000-6,500.
Good luck man.

We have to realize we're talking about a 17 year old car... Not going to get a premium for one.
