Default 1999 Camaro SS w/ 1450 miles

Nice car with realistic asking price:

If it was just an asking price I might agree but, considering he's "firm", I'd say the price is a bit high for an A4 '99 in pewter. It would take a "right place, right time" buyer to get it sold at that price I think - might take quite a while to find such a buyer. And a premium car such as this should have a better ad IMO. This ad is lacking in terms of quality pictures, and the gravel lot pics certainly don't do this car any favors (mine has 12 times more mileage but there is zero chance that I would pull into a gravel lot for a photo shoot.)

In the current market, I'm not sure that any LS1 SS car is going to sell for over $20k with 4-digit mileage and especially an auto trans, unless maybe it's a Z4C LE car or perhaps a full SLP content '01+ car in SOM or something like this. He'd have better luck with B-J or Mecum, sometimes folks loose their minds at such events.

If it had more SLP content than the chrome wheels and dash plaque (and of course, who knows with such a lousy add), I'd consider 20k IF it was any color but pewter. But the odometer is unquestionably the best part of this car....

I agree with everything above. Spot on.

$21,500 "firm" doesn't work for me, even if it were an M6. 2 years ago we discussed a black 1999 WS6 M6 with 2900 miles that sold for $19,XXX on Ebay under spirited bidding. And coincidentally, that owner also decided to drive to the train depot + gravel/rock road to take the photos. What are these people thinking? Gravel and pristine cars just don't mix well. But, if a few more paint chips in your wheel wells do it for you...then have at it.

Other prices we've seen are black 2002 Firehawk M6 1LE with 5K miles going for around $22K-$23K two years ago. Night and day from this '99 Pewter A4.

The first person that shows up with $17K-$19K cash could take the car home. Give the seller a month or so to be tire kicked around. And that asking price will drop. They probably looked at all the high end on-line car dealers that have cars in the 2K-25K mile range asking $23K and up. So $21,500 must be a good deal. Another data point from 18 months ago was a 1-owner silver 1999 SS A4 with 9500 miles from upstate NY. Asking price was $13,500 on Autotrader. It sat for 6 months or so. I suspect either they decided not to sell or accepted $13K.

I bought my red '99 SS M6 w/12K miles five years ago for $12K...no way that 10K miles difference is worth $10,000...not in this case. For a 1999 WS6 M6 anniv vert, I might believe that a 1900 vs 12K mile car could fetch an extra $10K....though it would be tough. Like RPM WS6 said, it might take a 3 digit mileage for that. The seller has great, under 2K miles car....nothing wrong with that, even if many aren't fond of pewter.

Here's another example to add to the list in terms of super low mile LS1 SS value:

https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/c...287001342.html

This one has been listed on and off for at least a year now, maybe longer; same pics, same ad, just reposted by the seller. It doesn't appear to have any significant Y2Y content, and would need some detailing to look it's best, but otherwise a fully loaded SS car with the desirable M6 trans and final year production. 4800 miles. No takers at $18.9k (I think it was originally listed at $20-21k when the ad first appeared.)

I don't personally see much value difference between 1450 miles and 4800 miles when speaking of garden variety SSs, and in every other way (trans type, color and model year) the black one above is more desirable in the general market. Both are in the Great Lakes area so a few of the same folks might be looking at both cars.

In the last 12-24 months we've discussed several very low mileage (~15k or less) LS1 SS cars here, and it doesn't seem that any of them can sell for more than ~$19k with over 1k miles unless they are something particularly special (beyond just the low mileage.) There was a super nice, full Y2Y content '02 NBM SS M6 at a dealer in OH earlier this year that I reference often - this was also a sub-5k mile car that was about the nicest and most desirable LS1 SS car one could imagine, sans the Z4C package or SOM coloring - even that dealer couldn't get it sold easily for $18.9k.

This car is "adult owned." Do you have to be in your 30's? 40's? 50's? I figure if you can get your license, pay for the car yourself, then you're an adult . Even "adult owned" vehicles can by driven by other members of the family, even junior at 16-18 yrs old. Since this is a 2nd owner car, how does the current owner even know who drove it around during the 1st owner's tenure?

Not an SS, but here's one that will be sitting for a bit:

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/c...319830207.html

It's basically a duplicate of mine, except red, optioned with leather, and 3k more miles. Early LS1 Z28s with an A4 trans, 10-20k miles, and some popular options are more like ~$10-11k cars in proper condition, depending on exact details and +/- a bit for location. An early/mid-'98 might be worth a bit more to folks like myself who are aware of the roof issue, otherwise I'd group '98/'99 at the same value if all else is the same.

This seems to be a really nice car, something I would seriously consider for my own collection, but they just aren't worth this kind of money. No point in making contact with an asking price such as this.

We talked about this one before as well:

https://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/...260802326.html

Been for sale off and on for a while but this latest ad is going on 2 months old. I would be willing to go low $20s on it.

It might be hard to find one just like theirs (Pewter '99 SS A4) with under 1450 miles. The reason being is that most lower mileage cars that were saved as garage queens tend to be a different color with more SLP options.
