2000 SS trade for low mile 1979 Z28?
Hi all. I've come into contact with a gentleman who has a 1979 Z28 t top dark red with gold stripes and wheels. All factory car with little to 0 rust underneath. 30,000 miles on the clock and interior is white and immaculate according to the pictures. It's a manual as well. I have a 2000 SS SLP with just over 65k miles on it with some tasteful but subtle mods on it I was going to trade with him for. I'm just curious as to what the prices of our cars really are. I will try to add pictures if I can figure out how

I think the owner of the 79 would be making a hell of a deal trading for your 2000. IMO, 79-81's aren't going to go much higher in price. F Bods with the right miles should start increasing when they're +25 years old. That 79 doesn't look bad especially if you did an LS swap in it. I'd make him give the 79 plus a couple grand on top to start that LS swap.

If i had that SS, NO WAY in hell id trade that for the older car. NO WAY. If you want it, maybe buy it, But I'd keep my SS....it's gonna be worth some $$$ if you keep miles low. I'm shaking my head that you'd even consider that. That black SS is clean as hell. I'd LOVE to have one. That z28 is clean too but it's ugly....not a good looking body style in my opinion.

Prices are coming up on them that's for sure. Without seeing it, If it's considered to be in very good low mileage condition I would say 12k-20k. The higher end being well optioned and near new condition. If I ever want to get a "basic idea" of what cars are really being sold for I go to Ebay and look at the sold listings for the specific year/ make/ model/trim package.

This is where personal taste plays a big role. Other than the WS6/Firehawk I don't car for 90's-early 2000's body style. I would love to have the Z-28 and would jump at the chance to own the car but would look closely at the current value of both cars to make it a fair trade. The collector car market value has been on a down hill slide for the last few years that it will never likely recover from. Many in the hobby believe it's dying a slow death because the younger crowd in general aren't into cars like they were in the past.
