I would recommend atleast 10 inch. DEFINITELY not 8. 9.5 at the SMALLEST. Anything narrower, and not only will it be unsafe, but it will look like ****.

You need to do your research before you tell some one bad information.

I wouldn't run anything bigger than a 255 on a 16x8

on a street radial of stock overall diameter . . .

I had a set of 295's on some ws6 rims they look nothing like trying to stick a 315 on a 17 inch rim not anywhere near as wide in my opinion they are almost identical to a 275/60 mounted on those wheels. End up being right at 28 inches tall so you better have some room in the wheel well for them. I may actually still have a pair if your interested, I am not sure where you located.

??? thats all wrong . . . Here is a vid with some side shots of my car on 295/50/16's. I borrowed them to run in a true street radial race we had earlier this year. You will have no problem at all on a stock wheel. They fit perfect, and look great too. Keep inmind I'm running a narrowed rearend so your's will look even better.

It's not a question of LOOKS, it's a question of SAFETY!! Secondly, you're drag racing, turning corners, and/or braking in a street situation, is a whole different thing.

Bottom line, 295s DO NOT belong on an 8" rim.

PLEASE do your research first! Beacuse you are incorrect . . . .

Guess you should call BF Goodrich since you obviously know so much more about tires then they do and tell them what idiots they are as well for offering this tire to the public and advising them the size rim they should have it installed on. . . . . . . This question about 295/50-16 and they do fit, don't bulge out at the side walls, and cause no safety problems because they were designed to fit a wheel that size . . . . . . they have plenty of sidewall to correctly engage the rim of the wheel without issues. By the way here is you a link advising tire size just in case anyone would like to contact a manufacture or retailer to argue further.

whatever. Those wheels and tires I was running came of a daily driver Camaro. Lots of turning and braking in daily driving now isn't there.

Oh and like it was stated before, you better call Hoosier, Cooper, and BF Goodrich, and tell them they don't belong on an 8.

What is it with these threads. . . . . . . your 16x8 CANNOT FIT 295's if you do that and you get hurt or get in a accident I hope everyome makes fun of you on this board for your stupidity. 245, MAX 255 is what is the 100% Safe size for a 8inch wheel. That's it, close this . . . . thread already.

ONE - no need for the language

TWO - do your research before you come unglued . . .

Hey, lets behave . . . There are two arguements going on here . . .

Street tires and Drag tires . . .

There is also a LOT of WRONG information in here.

For a street tire, of a stock overall diameter, on a 16" x 8" OEM wheel the max recommended tire size is a 255/50R16

Drag tires have totally different specifications.

There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for all the foul language betwen you guys.

All behave or you ALL get infractions.

Oh and PER the Manufacturers recommendations a 295/50R16 FITS a 8" to 10" wheel. And it is 27.6" tall.

So before you all tout off high and mighty, it is perfectly acceptable . . .

I don't see any foul language......

What I do see, however, is a difference between what FITS and what WORKS WELL....

(Back in the 80s, when I was running an oval track car, we ran 13" tread width tires mounted on 15" wide rims. The car had to accelerate, brake, and corner at ridiculous speeds.)

And what's your point? . . . a 295/50R16 per manufacturer specifications FITS on a 8" wide wheel . . .

There is no issue of what fits or works well . . .

I am one of the BIGGEST fighters AGAINST putting too big of a tire on too small of a wheel, but I do NOT go against manufacture specifications.

Therefore the specific tire that the OP requests FITS on a 16" x 8" wheel . . .

Therefore, we BOTH know that mounting a 295/50 tire on an 8" rim will not allow the tire to achieve it's maximum potential. That's my point.
