BF DR's I see BF make a few different types/styles of DR's..curious to know which are the best to run for more of around town/HWY driving. Just got some 16 inch SS wheels and they are in need of a nice set. Also the car does not get driven in the rain if that matters... Thanks! |
they actually only make one "compound" drag radial. the tread pattern depends upon the size. on a 16" it will be the old tread design. |
Got ya. I guess what I need to know is what tread pattern is best to go with then? I've never really looked into tires so I'm kinda clueless as to whats a good gripping streetable DR..open for suggestions :) |
Are you absolutely stuck on BFG's or would you be willing to try Mickey's? |

BFG's dont last much longer if any ...get Mickeys |
If you want a drag radial that has decent longevity, take a look at the Nitto 555R Drag Radials. Usually gets double the life of M/T and BFG and if heated up properly, actually stick pretty well. You may even want to consider heat cycling the tires. This will help prolong their life. Here's a link with our current prices. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr...g.nit.logo.gif Nitto 555R Drag Radial |
^^^ I hear the Nitto's run really narrow?? So between the Nittos and BF, which of the two tend to grip better during racing applications? And do you carry BF as well? |
I would get the Mickey's. They will outlast the BFG's. All BFG's I have seen don't get shit for mileage. And the Mickey's will outgrip any other DR. |
i get the exact same mileage out of mikeys or bfgs. 3500-4000 depending on the mood im in while i have them on. nittos will last 10-11k. but they do run a lot smaller. and the mickeys hok way better then eiher of the other two. |
I'm not looking to get a tone of miles out of whatever I go with...just want something that's not ridiculous in price and grips well |

M/T drag radial owns all the others. I embarrassed a cobra that had nittos last night. Well I nearly got hit, good thing I dead hooked and was gone, they went side ways. I've got about 3k miles on mine, they still look new, Then again i never do burnouts on the street. I don't spin them for no reason, They always hook for me. |
Also the bf drag radials were terrible for my car, at 40 mph in second going wot meant instant redline. No traction till third gear! |

I see you stated that you have 16" SS wheels. Are you sure they are 16"? |
I am very surprised no one has metioned the Hoosier drag radial. http://www.jegs.com/p/Hoosier/760685/10002/-1 If you don't drive the car in the rain then these will be the best drag radial you can buy. I have had all of them. The Hoosier lasts longer than the M/T and the BFG, and hooks AWESOME. And feel very solid at highway speeds. I cut 1.5 sixty foots on this drag radial in a 275 17, stock suspension. Plus they come with the white "HOOSIER" lettering on the side. |
^^those look like straight up slicks w/ a little line in them haha, awesome |
