What does everyone think of the Pro Star XP's?

I had my mind set on chrome ZR1's in the spring (9.5 in the front, 11 in the rear), but then I was thinking I should do something different. I checked out the Weld site and decided the Pro Star XP's are the ones I want. The only problem is the only size for the 5x4.75 circle is 17x8.5. They have 17x11 for the rear, but no 17x9.5.

So what do you all think I should do? Just go with the 17x8.5's or stick with the ZR1's? Do you think i'd be better with 255/40 or 275/40's in the front?

I like them!

IMO: 17x8.5 and 17x11's would look cool and different!

of course.. I like ZR1's too ;)

I'm thinking that the dish on these wheels would actually help the 8.5's look bigger than they actually are. Any idea where I could actually buy a set for a half decent price?

they look goot but the backspacing on all of the sizes SUCKS. for example i think the most BS you can get on the 17X11's is like 5.5 inches. and on a f-body you would trip over the wheel sitting outside of the fender well with that offset. trust me i've looked into this lol. you can get a complete list of all the sizes and back spacings at welds website. for an f-body the most rim you want "sticking out" i guess you could say is about 3 inches. for example on a 15X10 with a 7.5 backspace you have about 2.5 inches from the hub out and this is ideal but the most you want is ~3 inches most of the time.

Im friends with the owner of Weld Racing. I can see what I can do for ya. I think I can get ya 20% off anything.

I looked at them on their site. I thought we needed about 7.5 backspacing too. These wheels do look nice though and Stangkilr's 20% off would be real nice if we could get these wheels with proper backspacing.

Hm... I didn't even look at the offset. Why would they make these wheels without taking into consideration for our cars? I know they work on other things, but by looking at the website, it looks like they are more for trucks than the cars.

That'd be sweet if we could get a good deal though. I work for Keystone Automotive, and I can get them too, i'm just not sure yet what the cheapest I can go with. I think I might just order an unmounted 11" wheel in and throw it on so see how it'd look.

i don't know why they have such crappy backspacings, maybe Stangkilr can backhand his buddy at weld for doing that but it does suck though

I found some ZR1 wheels for the front in a 17x8.5 width and 56mm offset. (see link below)

http://www.customwheelsmarket.com/ch...e--chrome.html

Would this work? Or would we need a small spacer in the front?

Anyone tried this offset on a 8.5 inch wide wheel, if yes do you have pics?

I would talk with Todd from Discount Tire or go for a set of AFS wheels if you deside on using ZR1's.

Very happy with over 3 sets of ZR1's from afs, 2 black, and 1 set chrome between 2 buddies and I. Cant beat it with a stick for the price, The big ticket HRE and Fikse wheels will always make me drool but I dont know if I could keep
on living if I curbed, or cracked one.

By the way ive seen the draglite XP in person and it is a gorgious rim but the stance was not perfect, I think weld should try and work with f-cars a little more for that perfect stance, as afs has nailed it down. Maybe a Group purchase will set them strait, you have one buyer right here as i need a decently priced alternative for a new car, cant have 2 f- cars with the same wheels.....

I saw a black TA with 17" Pro Stars on it at Speed Inc. once, maybe ask Larry or Tom what the sizes were. Looked good.

The car that I think looks great is actually the 03 Cobra from LS1 Motorsports (QMP). It just looks perfect with those wheels.
