A 1/4" spacer can be run with stock lug studs, but you can run as fat as a 16 mm thick spacer, and the wheel will still fit. Definite need stronger stids for that thickness.
Lug style is 100% dictated by the wheel . . . typically a drag wheel uses a shank style lug, most other wheels use and acorn style.
295's through 315's will fit.

I can only assume that if the person was using shank lugs, he was using drag wheels . . . I would NEVER use a spacer in a racing application . . . street I have, prefer not to though . . .

Help with tire size
I have a 1999 T/A. What tire size do you all recommend if I plan to get some Summit Stars? 15x4 in fron and 15x8 or 15x10 in rear. What wheel would fit better in the rear? Thanks for the advice.

Hey Xsta,
I browsed through this thread and learned alot, so thanks. I just wanted to ask you about my own application because I didn't see this exact question earlier in the thread. My question is this:
I just bought a 2000 WS6 Trans am. I bought the car lowered and the former owner couldn't tell me how much it was dropped. I'm guessing 1.5 inches. Well, now I'm looking at some OE wheels deep dish C5's for it. The rears I want are 18x10.5 with a 56mm offset. According to what I read so far on this thread, I understand that I'm going to need a 1/4th spacer and possibly a little BFH. Is this still correct given that the car is lowered? Also, is a spacer all that safe on the highway?
Thanks,
Travis

Xsta-Z,
I have a few questions for you on the wheel offset. Here are the specs Im looking into:
CCW rims with 18x9 in the front - 50 mm offset with STOCK springs. Yea I know, stock springs but I like my car to ride nice and not too hard on the bumps we have around here. The back is the real question. Rim size is 18x12. Im going to have my car mini-tubbed and a MWC 9" rear put in that is 3" (76.2mm) shorter on the width on both sides. Seeing how the offset on the back of a stock car is 56mm, the new offset would be (negative) -20.2mm. Or -21mm to be good. Would that work? Or would making the rear 2" (50.8mm) shorter on the width and having a 0mm offset work better? Plus I was wondering what type of tire would be good to fit those size of rims? Thanks for the help.
