Default Driving with 10.5 Wheels Up Front

for those of you with 10.5 wheels up front, how does the car drive on a day to day basis?

i have 17x9 10 spokes right now and one tire is chorded. so new tires are in order. i love the look of the oe wheels 18x10.5 c5 deep dish wheels, but i hate the look of staggered 17/18s and the 17x19.5s don't look near as good without the deep dish.

so if i get them, i want 18x10.5s on all 4 corners. i daily the car so figure 10k miles per year of combined interstate and city driving. tires would be 295/35-18 gsd3s for sure, as i have those now in 275 and like them alot.

also concerned about having to run spacers and/or longer studs as i also autox the car regularly, allbeit with different wheels and r-compound tires.

in case you're wondering about mods, see my sig.

thanks
tony

I have 18x10.5's on all fours. The front tires follow the road surface and pull you in differnt directions a lot. I think thats a good way to decribe it lol. Its like your swaying back and forth do to the road surface condtion. (bumps, grooves, uneven patches, etc.
I want to sell my fronts for some 18x9.5's.

Like said, the fronts will pull you around a lot. But, I experienced that some with my 17x9's also. I've gotten used to it over the past couple years, so it doesn't really bother me.

You could lessen that problem by running the skinniest tire you can safely get on that wheel upfront.

Could probably get away with something like a 265/35/18, but i think those are only about 25.25" tall

I have 245s on my 17x9s on my Cobra, and they don't pull the road at all, or grab every groove there is. They're pretty skinny on the wheel, but work nice.

I thought OE Wheels was going to release a 9.5" DD C5? Or did I recall that incorrectly?

This is the truth. Should be Feb '10 or so. I'm also waiting for them and planning on getting the machined face C5 DD's 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rears.

but with the 9.5s you will not have the same dish front and rear.
and will the same wheels and tires front and rear, you can still rotate.

my concern is pulling on the highway. i notice it a little bit with my 275/40-17 gsd3's i have now, but its not that bad.

awfully hard to pass up the $163 for 295/35-18 gsd3's!!! was actually thinking of buying two sets of tires and packing one up for later. but wasn't sure how that would work out.

I have 18x10.5 frt and rears on my daily driver and went with 275 35's up frt. The curb is defenitely not your friend with the narrow tires but the steering is pretty good overall. What you should do is start with 2 goodyears, throw them on the frt and go for a rip and see how it feels on the highway. Just make sure it's not rubbing on the spindle arm/ upper a arm. I would think you would need a spacer with those tires. I'm not using spacers in the frt. The pulling in the steering can also be affected by the tread pattern, sidewall firmness, worn tires or suspension components but generally speaking, the wider the tire, the more it will tramline. I would'nt mind a set of those goodyears, can anyone comment about how noisy they are?

i have the gsd3s in 275/40-17 right now on my chrome 10 spokes. one tire is chorded, thats why i'm looking into new tires for sure and possibly new wheels.

the noise is pretty good. not much louder than any other tire i've had in the past, even with them being worn. i have happy with them overall, hence considering the 295/35-18s.
