Default I got a good deal! Need tires!

Hey everyone, I traded a guy my 2000 WS6 wheels for his 17" TT2's + $400 cash. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering the price of the TT2's and they're in really good condition. Fronts are 17x9, rears are 17x11. The front tires are gonna need to be replaced pretty soon (camber wear) and he suggested these:

Any daily drivers recommend this tire? Does it do good in the rain?
He suggested the ones below for the rear:

Anything good or bad about this tire?

Please help me out. I'm trying to get some decent tires on a budget, and I will be traveling quite a bit in the car over the next year.

Let me know what you all think!

Thanks,
Cole

ok from first hand experience don't get the sumitomo's. They are horrible on grip and do not last long. They wear quickly. They are cheap price but not a good tire. Another thing to keep in mind is if you DD the car and putting alot of miles on the car your best bet is to stay away from a directional tread tire. Again from experience these never last as long. If you don't mind paying for tires each year and want somethings real good for performance well then your going to pay for it. I run BF Goodrich tires on front not sure what one exactly they are but have lasted roughly 8,000 miles and show no wear on them. I'll get the exact specs later for you.
Also when viewing tires on Tirerack look at the specs for rain, treadwear and so on. Also look at the customer reviews. This is what I do and helps out alot in my decision making.

Let me know if you need any more help!

one more thing look at the UTQG ratings. For example the higher the number the longer the tires generally lasts. The letters that follow are the temperature of the tire and how it performs.

I agree but I bought them knowing this since I don't race the hawk. The tread looks badass. They slip real bad.

Yeah, please let me know. The tires have BF Goodrich G-forces all the way around right now.

Anyone else?

Honestly, I'm just thinking about putting Falkens from Discount Tire on the front and calling it a day.

i would put a 275 on the fronts instead of the 255 in the link... the sumitomos are ok for daily driving but don't hook very well as stated above... my bolt on car spun them like crazy so if you're making big power forget about it... i quickly swapped them out for nitto nt555r drag radials and solved that problem... but my car very rarely gets driven so tread life isn't really an issue... the nitto nt555r (non drag radial) would also be a good option... basically it all boils down to the use of the car and your wallet

Yeah, I'm gonna go with 275's. I like that look on the car, and don't wanna go any smaller. My car is pretty close to stock too. I'm debating on whether to just put cheap ones now and drive on them for the next year and buy a nice set later OR to replace the front, which have BFG G-Forces on them, and replace the back ones later. That way, I keep the set matching and probably save a little money in the long run. Decisions, decisions. That's why the forum is here though.

check out onlinetires.com they usually have good prices and discount tire will match them so just print out the page and take it to them... don't say anything about shipping though or they will try to ad that onto their price match

discount says they will price match but they never can get the tires I want. I would rather get the tire I like and pay for the shipping.

which tires??... they can get them they just have to order them... they might just be being dicks cause they don't want to cut a good deal and take a cut out of their profits... i got my 315/35/17 nitto drag radials from them and paid right at $300 with tax included... they had to order them of course and i got them the next day

Does anyone know if these tires will fit on my 9.5 inch wide wheel? I might try to talk this guy down on a couple of them if they do. I'm only worried that they may be more low profile than what I'm looking for too. Any suggestions? See link below:

Look into some Riken Raptors. They are made by Michelin. My 275's were $125 a tire. Good traction for a street tire, wear well and are the best tire in the rain I have had on the car. I have DR's for the track and don't AX so I am VERY happy with them....

I used to have Riken Raptors on my old camaro and I absolutely hated them. They didn't grip and I replaced them after one year of driving being so worn out. I always make sure they had good pressure to. Just me .02

If your on a budget ur probably best off checking the classifieds here, people sell used tires for cheap often.
I can't really suggest you any tires because im only fimiliar with summer only and DR's as that is what I run on my car.

Craigslist is awesome. I picked up a couple Firestone Firehawks ($300+/piece) for $200 for 2 of them. They look good and handle reallly wellll.
