Are you trying to put the rim on with the rear hanging? It might be getting caught on the bumpstop put and jack under the rearend and lift it that way that should help

Definately must jack up or support the axle to get them on. Will leave nasty gouges if you try to take them off on a lift. You can also premanently eliminate the problem by grinding off the bumpstop mount.

i had to eliminate that problem also, that mount is a bitch to grind off. i had to file down the aftermath too just so there wasn't a sharp edge for that "just in case" scenario.

nah it's just they were cheap (400 bucks) with new tire and he said that's what they were all the way around. Is there anyway to measure this with the tire on?

If the fronts are 275's then it'll be a 9.5" rim.

You could also take them to any tire shop and they should have some calipers that fit over the tire and measure the rim

The seller probably measured the OVERALL width of the wheel from outside face to outside face. Wheels are measured by the insides of the wheel flanges . . .

So if you're told they are 10.5" wide, then they are actually 9.5" wide . . . A typical wheel flange is 1/2" thick.

I agree that they are likely 17x9.5 all the way around. But to confirm, you can take the wheel off the car and look on the underside of the spoke. But if they are 17x9.5 all the way around, I'm surprised that you had to lift the rear axle to get the rears mounted, thats usually a 17x11 wheel issue.
