Slicks for 16's First off, Im going to admit I know nothing about slicks... I'm looking for a set of track tires (1/4 mile) for 16" stock swirl rims off a 93-94 TA...what's the biggest size you can run without rubbing? |
Depends on what size tire you want, 26" or 28" M/T E/T streets: 26x10.5x16 26x11.5x16 (never seen this one on a car, you might want to give M/T a call just to see if it will work) 28x11.5x16 |
again, not being familiar with slicks, would it be beneficial to go with a taller tire? |
What gear do you have? I assume your auto. Do you spray nitrous? |
No nitrous, Auto, will be running a 3.23 or 3.42 gear |
Def. a 26" then. The 26x10.5-16 would be the one for you to go with. |
thanks much! |
Are you dead set on getting a pair of slicks...the M/T drag radials hook damn good and come in 255/50/16s(pretty much 26x10.5) |
The M/T drag radial is, for its size, pretty much the heaviest tire ever made. Extra rotating mass is not good for racing. The BF Goodrich and Hoosier drag radials are much lighter. |
Good point. M/T E/T street = 22lbs M/T Drag radial = 29lbs 14lbs roatating mass may or may not be a big factor to you. It will only equal a half of a tenth or so. I'm assuming by the pic in your sig, these are going to be track duty only. |
