Can a "drag pack" be DD'd?

here is whats going on in my little head...

right now, cam only im at 400rwhp...on a 100 shot, im at 517rwhp. I have full suspension on my car down to a Spohn adjustable torque arm.

Currently, my wheel/tire setup is 18" Ruff Racing 280's. they are 8.5 up front (running a 245 tire) and 9.5's out back (running275 dunlop sp sport maxx)

I am tired of blowing the tires off N/A, and even worse on the bottle on the streets. I dont go to the track much at all...but when its nice out, I like to DD my car....and I take it on road trips to myrtle beach every year (910 miles one way) etc....basically, I am wondering what can I do, to switch my wheel setup and get good traction...I really like the Summit warrior R/t's but Im worried about front skinnys and DDing them? what can I do? I love the look of a drag pack on a clean lowered f-body (like mine) which is why im swinging this way.

Any suggestions other then putting a DR on my current wheels??

If anything I'd run a wheel designed for a late model F-body, over the china made Summit brand wheels. I didn't ever "dd" my car (rain/snow) on slicks and skinnies, but I did drive it quite a bit through out one summer whenever it was nice out. Driving on slicks and skinnies takes more common sense than experience. Learn to brake slower, take slow turns, ect. The Summit brand wheels don't come in the correct backspacing for the rear of a 93-02 F body in a 10" wheel, and they require grinding on the brakes front and rear. I'd look into Weld Racings new RTS wheels. They are a very affordable wheel that is SFI approve for the strip and also a streetable wheel, and still very light (much lighter than the Summit wheels)

thanks man

my only real concern is front skinnys. Is there any way I could run maybe like a 7" wide wheel up front, and 10" in the rear? or something along those lines? So its like I have a normal sized tire up front?

also, im not so sure if I would go with a rear drag radial or a big sidewall, wide street tire....cause like I said, I do DD the car on nice days and go on road trips...I dont want to be stuck in a severe rain storm hundreds of miles away on a drag radial...

I hear ya on that. It's one of those things that are either a do it right thing or don't do it, just have to decide what the best decision is for you. I would be lost without a DD. The furthest I ever go is about a hour away on drag radials, so I don't worry too much. As far as a 7" front wheel, unfortunatly due to the LS1 front calipar design, that is not possible with a 15" diameter wheel.

I know plenty of people that do it BUT... I wanted to do the same but I had to think about my driving situation. I drive my DD everyday in Dallas and Fort Worth. In that kinda traffic and as aggresive as some people are out there on the highway you never know when your going to have to break quickly or swerve, so I decided against the drag pack for my DD. But if you just squirt around a small town or somethin or feel comfortable with it then go ahead. Just think it through very hard. It may look cool but can you really safely street that where ever you live....
