I have no idea how this happened/is happening. It's only on one rim, the other 3 are fine.

There is a strange pitting/staining developing on the brushed aluminum outer lip, almost as if the rim is becoming tarnished.

WTF. I've tried polishing/buffing etc.. everything short of taking sand paper to it, and have had no luck restoring it.

Do you guys know if there is anywhere I can take it or ship it to get this removed and fixed?

Here are some pics of the pitting:

Were those clearcoated when they were painted? Looks like clearcoat peeling to me.

Is this something I could do or would I have to bring it somewhere..

Use 1500 grit sandpaper with a mix of liquid soap and water. Wetsand them wirh the 1500 and then with 2000 grit. It will leave the rim very hazy. Then you will need to polish them with some good aluminum polish. I use Blingmaster and it works great. I am doing a customers wheels right now and they are turning out very nice. I will try and get some Pic's posted up for you tomorrow.

99LSS1 is right with the fine sanding then polishing. I've used Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish for years and it works great.

instead of polishing the rim since your taking off millage off the clearcoat, how about sanding the rim down using 1500 and shoot it with clear, that way your protection is back on the rim and hopefully wont have that corrosion come through again..

Not to be "slamming" anyone, but AR seems to have had clearcoat issues for YEARS! I put a set of their 5 spoke, 234s on my wife's '93 Caprice LTZ, back in '93. Within a year, they did a warranty replacement on all 4 of the wheels, due to clearcoat issues, and the second set was peeling within 2 years.....

The problem is that they're a machined lip, not polished. So even if you sand them down, remove the junk and get them looking dull and polish em out, that area/wheel won't look like the others unless you do them all that way.
