Default What are the negatives of running diff brand tires in front and rear??

im thinking about putting 285/35/18s nt05's in rear of my 98 z28 camaro and a cheaper tire in a 245/40/18 in the front to save some money and get better wear life. i have staggered 18's. is this ok? what are the negatives?

what do you mean by understeer?? ive never had a good performing tire...always stock 245/50/16's all around...im getting some new staggered mrr gt-1 hypersilvers 18x8.5 in front and 18x9.5 in rear...super excited about those but since im spending a $900 on the rims im trying to get by without taking huge hit in the wallet with the tires. so i figure ill get the widest good looking and best performing tire in the back and get something cheap up front. im a conservative driver and get spirited coming off on ramps but other than that i dont do a lot of aggressive cornering.

If u go with a cheap tire in the front that can't perform as well as the ones in the rear, the rear tires are gonna wanna push the fronts in the corners possibly causing traction loss in the front. don't cheap out on tires....

any suggestions for some tire/brand combinations of a new tire set that will get me performance and the wide aggressive look in the rear without spending more than $600? i want 245/40/18's up front and 285/35/18's in the rear...i will go with a matching set but i just dont know that there is an affordable performing tire out there? thats why i want to spend my money on the rear and get by in the front.

lol are you guys serious who are saying blah blah with problems? I have never run all 4 of the same brand tires once. I had all 4 same brand when I bought the car on, that was it. Really none except looks, I put good brand new tires up front but I always get whatever for the rear since they only last me 2months anyways.. hell, probably about 75% of everyone on this entire forum has different tires out back, whether it's brand or size or BOTH!
