Default bigger or stay the same

Right now I'm running a 255 40 18 on the front with a 275 35 18 in the rear. Do you guys think i should put the same on the front as the back or go back with the 255 thanks.

Depends on what width your rims are. My old rims were 18x9.5". I had 275/35/18 on the front and 295/35/18 on the rears.

Thats the problem I don't know what width my rims are. I know when I got the car it had the 255 40 18s on the front and now that I need front tires I'm afraid they had them smaller for a reason. I'll probably just have to pull a rim and have the tire taken off to measure the rim and then make a decision. I'd like to run a wider rear tire and just move my rear 275 35s to the front they've only got maybe 3,000 miles on them and put the new ones on the back. thanks
