Getting CCW's refinished

Trying to decide whether to go with polished (currently) or get them powdercoated either black or have the centers done a bronze-ish color and the lips polished. My Z is pewter, I'll post a pic of my car later today but right now I wanna knows first opinions on the options.

I assume you have classics?

BoricuaHec01 Aug 12, 2011 10:34 AM

Def show pics asap.

Detoxx03 Aug 12, 2011 11:14 AM

I'd like to see before and after pics

KL20 Aug 12, 2011 11:22 AM

Yes I have classics, sorry for not clarifying.

I haven't had them done yet, I'm throwing my options out to get opinions before I get them done. I once saw a white C5 that had some with the centers bronze with a polished lip and they looked incredible.

mac62989 Aug 12, 2011 12:11 PM

I really like the polished/chrome look on pewter. I had chrome rims on my old Pewter Camaro and I think it went well. Your bronze idea sounds like it could look good too and it would def be different.

KL20 Aug 12, 2011 12:21 PM

I'll put up the pic of the C5 later too.

All black just doesnt do it for me. That vette doesnt look bad but I would like to see a better picture(prob doesnt exist)

SHovV Aug 12, 2011 06:32 PM

bronze looks good on a white race car. but not on a pewter car imo. id stay ploished or black

KL20 Aug 12, 2011 07:03 PM

Well the bronze gave me the idea of doing the centers pewter.

SSmoken Aug 12, 2011 09:09 PM

i ran mine without centercaps for a few months then decided to spend the $100 and order some. they look much better with them!

Rise of the Phoenix Aug 12, 2011 09:14 PM

Take it from someone with a pewter TA; leave them polished. Don't get me wrong, black would look good, but not as good as polished. Plus, if you ever want to do black, buy some Plastidip and go to town on them. It's not perminent, so you don't have to worry about it if you end up not liking the black.

KL20 Aug 12, 2011 09:23 PM

These are an older race version, before they started the lightening holes. Therefore they can't accept centercaps. :(

I like the plastidip idea but have no clue how to execute it correctly.

So the idea of pewter centers isn't a good look?

mac62989 Aug 12, 2011 09:39 PM

Pretty sure plastidip is in a rattle can and can be easily peeled off when no longer wanted. I think pewter centers might be too much but then again Ive never seen anything like it. I just dont think you can go wrong with a clean polished look on any color car.

KL20 Aug 12, 2011 09:54 PM

I wish I could Photoshop my car with ideas to see what it would look like. Most likely I'll stay with polished, especially if I can't make a definitive choice on color.

RoidedSS Aug 13, 2011 12:04 AM

what about being the first to try pewter and color match the centers of the rims to your car. if you don't like it, you can always fall back on a satin black to match your rear panel which IMO would look amazing on the pewter car....leave the lips polished regardless though

BOBS99SS Aug 13, 2011 05:40 AM

stay polished

KL20 Aug 13, 2011 07:52 AM

It a tough decision, I have always wanted originality with my wheels. I guess actually having classics is pretty original cause you don't see them much outside of drag packs. Does anyone have Photoshop to place pewter centers on the wheels to see what it looms like?

desertLS1 Aug 13, 2011 12:25 PM

Cosmetically on that car, I'd spend money else where...
