Default 15x10 wheel, 6.5 or 7.5" backspacing?

which one would not make the tire stick out, but still have some clearance in the fenderwell? its for a 28x10.5 tire.

Go with a 15 X 10 that has 7.5 backspace. However, you will need a spacer if the wheel is a Weld Draglite, or Pro Star you will also have to do some caliper grinding, and smack your inner fenderwells a little bit. It will sit under the fender very nicely though. 5/16" spacer and ARP extended studs will be needed to complete the job. Also if you run slicks, you will need a driveshaft safety loop.

If you want to avoid grinding then get a set of Bogarts from SJM Manufacturing (Sponsor list) and talk to Steve. He just set me up with some Bogart D-10's and they are beautiful. I used to run Weld DL's and spacers, but the local track is wise to 4th gens using spacers, and I did'nt want to get busted.

I run 15x10 Pro Stars, 7.5 backspace, with 28x10.5x15 slicks. I run no spacers in back but I did hella grinding.

6.5 will stick out like Corvette Summer.

Holy crap! When I was a kid I loved that movie. Now I see pics of that car on the internet and cringe....California domestic pre-rice.

Can you run a 28" tall tire with out having to trim any body parts? My car is super-low miles and I don't want to do any cutting on it. I don't mind bashing on the inner fender wells or whatever, but no cutting. Caliper grinding is fine also.

Any thoughts?

The problem with a 28 inch tire is how deceptive it looks sitting under your fenderwell. Yeah, its close, but you think no big deal. Then when your at 110+ mph the damn thing has grown. BAD.

If you don't want to cut your rear bumper, I'm pretty sure (please seek more input!) that a Hoosier QTP 27 X 11.5 is about max size. This will require just a few taps on the inner fender with a 3-5lbs hammer, and your bumper should be safe.

I'm by no means an expert. However, I just test fitted my M/T ET Streets 28 X 12.5 on Bogart D-10's and they went right on, after a pretty good beating from my 3lb. hammer. I still am wating for my lugs to show up, so I can get my new wheels on, and go for a quick test spin to see if I have any rubbing issues. If they are still rubbing.....I guess I will have to figure that out if it comes to that.

I am wanting to use the 15x10 Draglite with a 295-50-15 tire which is I believe 26.7" tall with a rollout of 84", and the tread measures 10" with a 12.2 section width. I know the 6.5 backspacing will work with this size tire which will leave way to much hanging out in the breeze, but I am not sure of the 7.5 backspacing with this size tire. I did some measuring and it appears that the side wall may hit at the front side of the inner fender well. Does anyone run this size tire with a similar wheel? If so could you give me detail of how much massaging you had to do to the front rear inner fender well?

Thanks for any help that can be given.

You must run a 7.5 backspace on a 15 X 10 Weld wheel. A 26 inch tire with only 10 inches of tread width will require no adjustments to the fenderwell.

I used to run (I now have Bogart Wheels) a 5/16" spacer and used ARP extended studs. The studs are a requirement!!! Otherwise you will not have enough threaded lug to be safe. Make sure you have a good angle grinder, because your rear calipers will to have the royal **** ground out of them for this combination to work. It's not as bad as it sounds, but it will require you to take your time, and be careful.

My first set of slicks were on a Weld DL 15 X 10 7.5bs with a set of MT ET drags 26 X 10's. I just can't see a drag radial with those deminsions giving you allot of problems, but tread width vs. section width will be key. If you do have to do any adjustments they will be what I would call EXTREMELY MINOR. Your fenderwells will be fine left uncut with that small of a tire circumference. Anything over a 27" may require cutting the bumper.
