Default Tires that can take abuse

Hi,
I have a procharged G8 putting out aroung 520rwhp. What are your opinions on the hardest wearing street tire? Price and wear are my main criteria and I would sacrifice performance for this as I only get around 5000 miles on a set. I do the occasional donut and it spins off the line a lot.
Currently I have 245/40/19 Falken FK 452's on it and these have been the toughest so far.
Others I have tried:

- Toyo Proxes T1-R - squishy feel, didn't handle or last
- Continental Sport Contact 3 - de-laminated, down to the metal in 2000 miles

I guess I could also look at widening the rear wheels to accept 275 tires (8 to 9").
Appreciated,
Chris

You're better off getting sticky tires if you want them to last longer in your case. Spinning tires kills treadwear.

My old nexen N3000 275/40/17's lasted well over 10k miles and still had life left in em when I replaced em with 555R's. I did many smokey burnouts, donuts and drifts and they took it like champs.

Hi Wysemunky,
How would these compare to the nitto invos's or 555's? I can get the nittos at a decent price.

If you are going to beat the snot out of them, not much of anything will last.

I can barely get a year out of 420 treadwear junk tires even if I'm not doing donuts and acting a fool all the time. I am heavy off the line a lot...tires are the price you pay for showing off all the time.

I would recommend the nexen as a cheap street tire that does everything ok. The 555r's are in a whole different class. They are grippier, ride better and do just as good in the rain, but they prolly won't last nearly as long and cost twice as much.

nexens are awesome unless you are trying to get traction from a dead stop, but they last forever and you can do all kinds of crazy burnouts and such with them.
