315s rubbing, BFH? Cut Bumpstops? Roll fender?
#21
I had to bfh the same areas as streetleagle to fit my 325s but I did not have to touch the bump stops, I did however have to roll the fender lips, and my car has an adjustable panhard bar and has DMS springs in the rear with the hose mod. As CamaroSS27 said all cars are different though and I think I got lucky cause I have plenty of clearance between the bump stops and the tires.

So I did the BFH mod and cut my bump stops out yesterday. I used a grinder to cut my bump stops. A sawzall kept getting too close to my shocks/springs. I actually hit both lightly once or twice and that was enough to switch.
My only concern is about the BFH mod, in the area below that is circled.
I took the car out and it doesn't rub anymore when I turn pretty hard (side streets). I wasn't able to go WOT but I did go to 4k a few times and it didn't rub. I checked both outside and inside tire walls.
I am worried that if there is another person in the car, or lets say three people (even though my back seats are out so it would not be too comfortable for them) I am thinking it will rub. Has anyone cut this circled area out before? or how much room do you guys have from this area to the tire?
With the tire mounted and suspension loaded. I was only able to fit one finger width from the tire and this area (1/4 inch give or take) and my finger was snug tight (Thats what she said) But seriously. lol
Before
After-Circled Area?
Driver Side
Passenger Side
I am thinking about hammering that circled area more or cutting it out when I roll my fenders when it gets a lil warmer. At least I can drive the car now.

That is the most common spot for rubbing. I think you need to get a bigger hammer, it looks like you've been hitting it with an ice pick lol. Can you fit any fingers between the tire and that part you hammered when the tire is on? I hammered it until I could almost fit my whole hand between the two and it hasn't rubbed since. But I haven't gotten sideways or anything, waiting to roll the fenders before I do that.

Don't cut out that area. The seat belt is right behind there and you will end up
with a hole into the interior compartment.
Just keep beating it in until you can fit a finger in between the tire.
Also keep your back seat in and in the locked position, installed in the car when doing the bfh mod
because I have seen some people who beat it in so bad that it tweaked it to the point that the seat
doesn't work after the fact.

Holy sheet metal hack-o-rama batman Cut my stops out too, but it's not quite your guys' rear spring quick change access hole. Wow...
Cut my stops to protect my wheels, gently massaged the rub areas with a 3lb hammer, rolled the fenders, a little undercoat, some air bags to protect from bottoming out.....done.

Btw, for your bumpstops, it looks like you hardly cut anything. You don't have any problems mounting your tire w the suspension un-loaded?

All I cut (had to cut) is the attachment flange that hold the weld nuts in place. The bump stop doesnt do anything for an unloaded suspension. Wheel goes on fine either way now where before as I mentioned, the wheel hit the stop "unloaded".
