Help With 18''-19'' Wheel Size?
 

I'am the proud new owner of a 2001 Trans Am. The car is completely bone stock. The first thing I would like to do is change the wheels. I have searched the forums looking for answers, but so far I have come up with more questions than answers. I dont mind rolling the fenders and doing the bfh mod, but I do not want to run any spacers. I would like to run 19'' wheels on all four corners, but I'm ok with runing 18'' on the front if I need to. I'am also looking at using the Strano 1.2in lowing springs. What size wheels and offset do I need to get a good fit with out rubbing or sticking out past the fenders? What size tires will work with that combination? Also I really like the RPM 505's, and HP EVO wheels. Is there a vendor on here that sells these wheels? I would rather do bussiness with someone on here than some randam website.

For 19" wheels, I recommend 9.5" to 10" with a 38mm to 45mm offset for a hassle free installation. For tires... 275-30-19.

So I can run a 19'' x 9.5" wheel with 38mm offset and 275/30r19 tires on all four corners? Or would I need different tires on the front?

I've only had 19x9.5's on my current car. The HPR5's that I had on there before were 38mm off-set and were nice. My current VMR VB3's are 45mm off-set. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that HP Design/Racing went out of business?

P.S- I recommend to lower the car if you run 19's, big wheel gaps lol

Had no Idea they were not in bussiness anymore. I just like the pictures I have seen of them. Are the RPM 505's still Avaliable? Also I was planing on going with the Strano 1.2in lowing springs. Will that lower it enough to close the wheel gaps? I really like the slammed look, I just didnt want to lower it too much and rub the tires. If I can lower it more with the 19'' wheels and not rub, I'm all for it!

Yeah, the Strano's should be fine. I personally am not a huge fan of the incredibly slammed look, I leave that for the imports and euro's. These are some cars with the Strano springs right on his page.

Finding RPM 505s in 19" appears to be a pretty tough thing. You can find them in smaller sizes, but I haven't seen anyone selling them in 19". I've seen it suggested on here that they don't make them in that size anymore, but I can't confirm that is true.

I have not had a chance to look real hard yet, but they do seem hard to find. I looked on RPM's website and they still show the 19'' x 9.5'' in the 505's. There website is just about use less for anything else. I was going to try and contact them to find a local dealer and make sure they are still avalible, but it would not let me email them and there is not any contact info. I have found a few randam websites that are still showing them for sale. I'm just not real sure about buying wheels from some randam online store that I have never heard of before.

I got mine thru wheelsnext.com but they are out of business now...18inchX9 rear and 8.5 front, I think. 245 front and 285 rear. Looks great!

Your best bet is to contact the sellers or sales reps for sizing, because when you fill out the sizing info on the pages 999/1,000 times it will say that a 5x120mm will not fit on your 5x120.65mm studs for the sake of saving their own asses. So call or email them and ask them what size(s) and bolt patterns they have available. Your biggest concern when you are looking at the 5x120mm wheels is the centerbore. I think the f-body is 70.56mm and the BMW/GTO/G8's are usually 72mm. So depending on the wheel you may or may not need a hub ring to get a better fitment.

Good point! I havent had a chance to get that far yet, but I didnt even think about the pilot hole. Or the fact that the wheels being 5 on 120mm instead of 5 on 120.65mm would cause me problems with the wheel shops. I have a couple of places I'm going to call in a while, hopefully I can find some 505's.

Eurowheelsusa.com is a site where i found great prices and thier selection is huge. phone # 602 692 4063. they might have the rpm's I'm in the market for the MMR GT-1 which are really close in looks to the 505's. check em out and let me know what you think

Yea, They look almost the same. They are real close to the same price too. I was about to order the 505's Friday, when a friend of mine called me wanting to sell me his Z06 Wheels. I really didnt want to run OE wheels but, the price is almost too good to be true. Only 500.00 for all four wheels and tires. Only reason I'm thinking about it is because I can spend the left over cash on other parts. I can always sell them later, and upgrade to bigger wheels.
