Is there any way to change wheel color from black? I bought a Trans Am recently and it has black c6 wheels. They probably came from OEWheels. I'd like to know if there's any way to change them from black to chrome? http://imageshack.us/a/img707/9638/zuin.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img841/2532/t8l7.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img577/9941/v25j.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img844/3861/3t1z.jpg |
would be costly. wheels would have to be completely stripped of powder coat, then find a place that is able to chrome dip parts (this is where it gets pricey). Would be cheaper to order new chrome set. |

That's what I figured. Thanks |
Maybe powdercoat them another color? Or if you're pretty set on chrome then set up a even trade with someone? BTW that back tire looks a little low ;) |

Yeah I'd ditch the black, looks terrible, especially on white car. I'd sell em on eBay or here, and replace with chrome or polish |

Contact a local powder coater and ask them who they know of that can chemically strip them. It's a process where they dip them in vats and it is usually automated. Pretty quick turn around and most coaters probably have one they work with to strip parts they are recoating. These kinds of chemicals don't weaken aluminum either. |
1 Attachment(s) What about getting just the outer tip polished since the wheels don't really have a lip to them? Would this be very costly? I think it makes it look a ton better for some reason. Similar to this car: |
Take them to a powder coater and have them do it in Super Chrome Powder Coat. Looks pretty good and should be a bit more cost effective than having them stripped-n-dipped. http://www.elcopowdercoating.com/pic...er%20wheel.JPG http://www.sportbikebolts.com/images...r_chrome-1.jpg http://www.sportbikebolts.com/images...r_chrome-2.jpg http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...bbs-chrome.jpg |
that actually doesnt look too bad |
The chrome powder looks like polished aluminum. |

The chrome powder looks like polished aluminum. Definitely a good option as most people would never guess it was a powdercoat. If you really want them to be shiny, either trade them or take the time stripping them and then polishing them. |
